It ain’t that bad
- The second week of the Brooklyn Ballers was surely a disappointed one but for an expansion team it ain’t that bad at all. They faced three southeast division teams in four games.
The first one was against the Miami Heat; it was a low scoring game which the Heat dominated the first quarter early but through team work the Ballers managed to hold on to the game. It was down to the final seconds of the game, down by three points the Ballers can still send the game to overtime. The Ballers draw a play for Wesley Matthews to shoot a three but he was tightly defended by Dwayne Wade so Corey Brewer forced a three but it didn’t went in as the Heat won the game 76 - 73.
The second game was against the Charlotte Bobcats, Chris Andersen was injured early in the game but managed to play through. The Ballers were up going into the third quarter when Gerald Wallace went on a scoring run; he scored 10 points in the third. The lead was cut down to three points but thanks to Adam Morrison the Ballers hang on the lead and won the game 75-72, Ammo scored 7 of the final points of his team.
Third game of the week was against the Orlando Magic, with Andersen playing in limited minutes due to injury the Magic went on to Dwight Howard early in the game but Yi Jianlian can’t be stopped in the first quarter. Then Vince Carter went to work while Howard played great defense to shut down the Ballers. The Magic won 83-75; Carter had 26 points while Howard had 6 steals and 6 blocks.
The last game was again the Heat; this was an entirely different game than when the two first met. The Heat dictate the game early holding the Ballers to only nine points in the first quarter. Dwayne Wade led his team with 26 points to cruise for an easy win.
Clearly with these four games the Ballers need to have legitimate scorer, Yi and Ammo is steadily finding their rhythm but Matthews is struggling. Maybe the Ballers need to look into the free agent pool for some help.
