The NBA Academy is an expanded practice mode in the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of NBA Live 09; once you start up the game, you'll find yourself shooting around in the Academy. You can walk up to coaches and perform drills or select them from the menu.

If you're playing any other version of the game though, there's no NBA Academy. The PS2 version has an expanded practice mode with similar features but it's nowhere near as in-depth and only utilises the menu interface to select drills.

Afaik, in Dinasty Mode the Academy should be available on the first day of each month... but on that day I can see no option to use the Academy: where can I find it?

That's the only time you can use the Academy, on the first of each month.

But where may I find it?
Surely I'm missing something: on the first day of each month I just see a different icon on the calendar... but I can't see any options related to the Academy.

It will prompt you to enter the Academy, you can't manually choose to enter the Academy in Dynasty Mode. That's something I'd like to see them change in 2010.

Seems like I need to double check what I do, as I've never been prompted to enter the Academy...

Anyway, it would have been great being able to manage the practice schedule freely: you would be forced to get a balance between players' complaints/fatigue and team development, instead of an anonymous once-per-month mode.

Definitely, though it would need to be balanced so that you couldn't simply enter the Academy every day (or even every off day) and quickly boost everyone to 99 overall. There'd have to be a limit on practice sessions in a week/month or at least a limit on how much development could be achieved in a week, month or even a single session.

Found the solution to my problem: if you set "team events" on "auto" you're never asked to enter the academy... I set in on "auto" simply because seems like there is no way to plan them... not that "auto" made any difference anyway.
It's really too bad that now that Live has a pretty solid gameplay, dynasty mode still has all these quirks.

True, though it's a lot more stable than the mess Dynasty Mode on last gen has become.
