I honestly don't understand everyone's infatuation with superstar level. Folks, the game is not designed to be accurate at this level in regards to player ratings and gameplay. It's designed to give the MOST challenge, but that also means that the internal player ratings have been inflated to allow for this. Unfortunately, in Live2k4, this also means the absence of logical plays involving the cpu. On superstar, have you noticed that the cpu will always insist on driving the lane with a jump shooter even if you decide to purposely leave said jump shooter open for the J? It's either that or the cpu will foolishly take 3 pointers all day!! Pick your poison....or maybe not!
The above are just a few examples to demonstrate that superstar level, at least this year, is not designed to accurately replicate the game, at least on the court. Your stats might look fine, but when you look to the scoring chart you don't see much semblance to the real game, granted the Nba is transforming as of late, but I can assure you that it's not THIS bad!
There are other issues which ail the game at this level as others have mentioned, I don't feel the need to re-address them. If you want all out competition without much thought to how the game is played on the court, then by all means opt for the superstar level of play, however if you feel you want a fair balance and reasonable representation of Nba basketball, stick with either starter or all-star, the latter for a more competitive but realistic game! The player ratings at these levels are more accurate and you'll see more realistic things happening here. Just remember that you can always adjust different sliders such as cpu fg%, cpu on ball defense, or lessen use fg% or on ball defense. All-star can be just as challenging with the right combination, not to mention more satisfying!
