Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

I basically can't play NBA Live because I can't do any playcalling! I set it up so the left trigger button on my Microsoft Sidewinder gamepad is the playcalling button, but every time I hit that button, it just calls a timeout. I can't hold it down and press another button either. If I do that, it still just calls a timeout when I finally let go of the left trigger button. I don't even want to play if I can't even call any offensive or defensive plays.
I know that the sidewinder doesn't have two extra buttons like some gamepads, but last year I could call plays just fine. What am I doing wrong guys?

I've actually pressed and held it for quite a while while trying to press some other buttons to call the play, but it still called a timeout. I don't see anyplace where it tells me what I actually press to call the play.
The controller configuration has some spots that say quick plays or something and there are four spaces to fill in but when I pushed a button and set it up so the quick plays were represented by a button, then they no longer worked for the button the shoot or jump. For instance, I tried to name one of the quick play buttons "A", but then it wasn't my pass button anymore. I would think we could name it "A" as well if we have to press the playcalling button first!

The Quickplay buttons should be used when you have two analog sticks - then you can use your D-Pad for Quickplays.
In your case holding the playcalling button down should bring up a small window after about a sec which shows the 4 plays you can call and the corresponding button to press. If you do not call a play then but simply release the playcalling button again, you will call a timeout.
