Some impressive scoring performances amongst the November 5th games, led by Tony Parker's 55 points (22/36 shooting in addition to 7 rebounds and 10 assists for good measure) in the Spurs' overtime victory over the Timberwolves netting them their first win of the season. That's a new career high for Parker, his previous mark being 38 points against the Heat back in 2006 and a rare 50 point/10 assist game, no mean feat when you attempt 36 shots.
Amare Stoudemire stopped just shot of the 50 points mark with 49 on 17/21 shooting and 15/15 on free throws to go along with his 11 rebounds, 6 assists and a handful of blocks and steals for good measure. A ridiculous performance of video game proportions, it's not often someone goes off for 49 points that easily. It's great to see Amare performing at such a high level these past couple of years after a lot of people wrote him off when he had the microfracture surgery that put him out all but three games back in 2006.
ESPN Australia had the Bulls/Cavs game so I got to see LeBron James' 41, 9 and 6 game from start to finish. It looked like he'd caught a tough break in the first quarter when he rolled his ankle but he still played 35 minutes and was attacking the basket like a man possessed, finishing most of the time and drawing the contact more often than not. Most importantly he knocked down his free throws and had sixteen attempts, if he keeps playing the way he did tonight he's probably going to win the scoring championship again. If not for the rolled ankle and the Cavs' lead allowing him some extra rest, he would have hit the 50 point mark tonight.
Meanwhile, Carmelo Anthony
expressed a desire to score 44 points in honour of Barack Obama's election as the 44th president of the United States. He didn't quite make that though, scoring 28 on 30 field goal attempts.

Pretty nice to see Amare scoring with dunks... That remember us the old Amare before the knee surgery...
Maybe Amare can be a top 5 in scoring this season
OFF: Did anybody saw that Matt Barnes has a NWT - Personal Reasons?
Does somebody know why?

Amare and Tony were definitely the best performers on the night, followed by LeBron and then D Wade. Although D Wade compared to the first three, doesn't really stack up... he had 28 points I think? But was like 2 blocks away from having at least 5 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and 5 blocks.
Tony Parker must have been awesome... 3 boards away from 55-10-10... Amare dominated as well.
What a great night for the NBA in terms of individual performances.

A family emergency, according to the preview on Yahoo! NBA.

I love NBA basketball.

Glad I wasn't the only one who enjoyed it, though I would've preferred LeBron's big night came at someone else's expense.

Well, i like Melo's desire to do such scoring performance, but no offense to Melo fans but i think he's not yet capable of doing a desired number of points in any given night, sure he can give you 25-32 pts each night, but not like LeBron who can score big numbers consistently.

I disagree, he was averaging over 30 ppg in the 2007 season before they traded for Iverson.

May I´m wrong but 25-32 pts each night sounds pretty good and Bron won´t average over 32 either.

I think mynameisgerd was talking more about LeBron's potential to go off for 50 points on any given night and suggesting Carmelo Anthony isn't a threat to do that. I'd probably take LeBron as the player more likely to do that but I think Melo is quite capable of going out and having a big scoring night. As I said, he was one of the top three scorers in the 2007 season averaging over 30 ppg before AI came over in the trade and his career high is 49.

I think for Melo, it'd have been better off without AI coming to Denver. His development as a scorer was held back due to the reduced number of touches.

I don't think it's affected his development at all but it certainly cut down on his touches and thus his opportunities to score.
