Impossible to win a close game!!

Sun Nov 23, 2003 6:27 pm

This 2004 version is miles ahead of last year's however, there is one major issue I have with it. When it comes to close games down the stretch, just forget about pulling out a win. I was playing as the NY Knicks against the San Antonio Spurs and down 13 points late in the third quarter. I mounted a come back and forced overtime. It was in overtime when my computer opponent began went nuts. At the end of the fourth quarter, the Spurs had 4 offensive rebounds for the whole game, in overtime, they had 6! From beyond the arch in overtime they hit an amazing 4 of 5 and wha la, I start missing lay up after lay up. Don't get me wrong, I love this years offering, but lets face it, in the top two levels, I feel that the deck is obviously stacked against you. With it, its either feast or famin. You'll either win big or not at all, there's no such thing as a close game in your favor.

I have to disagree with you there. Most of my games are close, whether I win or lose.

check if u have CPU assit on, coz i think if its on the loosing team has a chance to get bak up by making the winner miss everything!

In every live series including 2004, the cpu has the advantage down the stretch in close games..

But it seems like the CPU cheating in close games isn't really a problem so far for me in 2004. I have lost a few close ones,, but most of them my defence was just shit..

I just finished playing a mega close game against the bulls,, me spurs. I was down one with 15seconds left, I held the ball at the 3point line with parker, with 5seconds left i dump it to duncan in the post, chandlers defence was tight, and wasn't giving me no easy hoop inside, so i went with the fadeaway, i missed. Netrovich then grabs the offensive board and is fouled with .05 on the clock. He hits 2freethrows and wins the game :)

i love this game. it's a big step up.. like the step up from 99 to 2000, this is another jump :)

yea i dont agree either the only time i could say the cpu cheated was when i played san antonio and the comp hit 2 clutch 3's with Rasho Nesterovic and i had shaq contesting em too...but i still won by like 3 so who cares

i see what you are saying about it not being a big deal becaue you still won the game but it would have annoyed the hell outta me.

i have played about 7 online games, and i have to say i think there is some kind of 'catch up'

i have seen it in almost every game, whether in my favor or against me

i think ea tried to make it like in the nba where there is usually a couple of 'runs' in each game by each team

my .02

the CPU do have a tendency of hitting more shots
and you seem to miss a lot of layups in da clutch..
i was using da celtics against dallas
i was tryin to get my triple double with PP ( ended up gettin it in OT )
i kept missing layups semi contested then they just started fast breakin
soo u do get quite pissed off when u miss a layup and they finish u off with a slam.. they tend to run better with missed layups cuz ur player is frozen after da shot..

anywayz.. its CPU assist i fink

On All-Star, I managed to win a very improbable game. I was the Raptors and I was playing Milwaukee. I was down by 11 with a few minutes to go, and after playing good offense and good defense, I had to intentional foul a few times to make it closer as possible. Finally, when there was about 10 seconds left, I got a player (I think Lamond Murray) in isolation. As he was posting up and the clock ticking, he took a jumper and swished it. 1st overtime, the score was close all the way to the end. I was down by three with five seconds to go. When I inbounded the ball after over time, I made sure Vince got the ball. When he recieved it, Vince made a jab step then took the three. Swish! 2nd overtime, we just blew them away and won by 13. It was an awesome game :)
