Talk about NBA 2K9 here, as well as all previous games in the NBA 2K series.

Hi guys I have a laptop(Dell Inspiron 6400) and I was wondering if I'm able to play this game on laptop instead of a desktop. Can anyone give me an answer for it? Thx.

Select
Bioshock, IIRC as benji said.
If it passes the
Recommended specs, then you're probably good to go.

Most likely no. If you don't know much about computers, you most likely bought a laptop with integrated garbage graphics which will NOT play ANY game well if at all. You would have had to specifically order a laptop and added money for the option of a good video card. And that's fairly unlikely - sorry to burst your bubble.

Dell Inspiron 6400, Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5200 at 1.60GHz(3.20 GHz in total), 2GB RAM, 80GB Hard Drive, NVIDIA Geforce 7300, Windows XP PRO.
My cousin's husband is professional at computer things so I got this laptop with his help.

Thanks alot. My Laptop kinda passes the minimum specs but fails the recommended(the video card sucks a little bit)...

Looks like i can play NBA 2K9 on minimum graphic settings on my laptop, can anyone post a picture/video on how 2K9 would look like on minimum? Also do u guys think there will be a lot of lag and that the gameplay will be choppy since it’s running on minimum?

I'm starting to feel like Phil Connors.

Settings on low still look better than Live 08 PC + superior gameplay equals a win, win situation regardless

You are a god. Not "The God", I don't think.

Wow, if no one told me those pics were on "low graphic settings" I wouldn't have known and assume those were on max! wow that's so unreal! Also do u know if the gameplay is choppy? and that the gameplay is as smooth as if it was on high graphic settings?
Sat Oct 18, 2008 2:08 pm
You are confusing frame rate with detail settings.
You can run all detail settings if you meet shader requirements. However, the frame rate may be too poor to set the details higher than minimum. If the frame rate continues to be poor, with details set at minimum, you need new hardware.
A person who runs "smooth" on highest settings, will run even "smoother" on lower settings.
Sat Oct 18, 2008 2:21 pm
So it's not guaranteed that the game will run smooth when playing minimum graphic settings?
Sat Oct 18, 2008 2:24 pm
No. Not a guarantee. Try this.

Of course not. The minimum is the "minimum" for that game, not the minimum of all games ever.

I did the test and this is what it says:
"Your computer can run this product because your system meets the Minimum requirements. If you want to see how you can meet all the Recommended requirements to have a great experience, look at the Recommended section below."
The only thing that is keeping me from having the "recommended" settings is the graphics card. I have a ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 with 128mb of video RAM. So will this prevent me from having a smooth gameplay experience?
I read somewhere that 2k9 needed a video card that had at least 128mb RAM, and I just have that...
Sat Oct 18, 2008 2:38 pm
Most likely you're stuck with low graphic settings. I don't know about smooth gameplay though.
Sat Oct 18, 2008 2:49 pm
All i care is the gameplay, that's why i'm making the switch to 2K... hopefully the game will run smoothly even with the minimum graphic settings. Here are my specs btw:
CPU: 2 processors running - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz
CPU speed: 1.99 GHz Performance Rated at 4.94 GHz
System RAM: 2.0 GB
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Build Service Pack 22600)
Video Card: ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 (ATI Radeon Graphics Processor (0x7145)) 128 mb Video RAM
Can any cpu experts tell me if i will experience smooth gameplay? cause i don't want to buy the game if it's going to be choppy cause basketball is all about timing when you are shooting lol.

Not bad but if i were you i'd w8 for the DEMO or full game so u can play around with the settings to c what fits your needs

I wrote out a response but closed the tab.
Basically you're over on everything but graphics card. So you can probably play on the lower settings fairly smoothly.
But if you're overly concerned about dropping the $20, wait for a "demo" of some sort.
