think about it....why would a game have application files for installing the game?

Also, look at the address bar, it says DVD-RW

not program files/2k sports/NBA 2k9

It doesn't matter what he said. Look at the picture. It's of the DVD.

aw my bad i understand now.

Fri Oct 17, 2008 10:15 am

Why does it run from Steam? I thought Steam only hosted games for games made by Sierra like Counter Strike, Half-Life etc.

Fri Oct 17, 2008 10:21 am

It is created by Valve (makers of Half-Life, Counter-Strike, etc.) but has many many other publishers on it. Take Two, through 2K Games and Rockstar, has been a fairly strong supporter of the platform.

kobe16 wrote:yeah. if that's the folder for the whole game then it's not moddable. We can still try texmod though

Even if the installed files look similar to the files on the disk, it will still be moddable.

1) System Requirements

================================================== ===================

1.1 Operating Systems
---------------------

Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000

Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP (SP 2)

Microsoft Vista(TM)

1.2 Minimum System Requirements
-------------------------------

CPU: Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz Single Core processor or equivalent (2.8 Ghz for Vista)
RAM: 512 MB or more (1 GB for Vista)
Disc Drive: 8x or faster DVD drive
Hard Drive: 10.5 GB or more free space
Video: DirectX 9.0c compatible (see below)
Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
Input: Keyboard or dual-analog gamepad

Video card with 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets is required:

ATI x1300 or greater;
NVIDIA 6600 or greater;
DirectX 9.0c compatible card with Shader Model 3.0 support.

Important Note: Game requires Internet connection for activation

1.3 Recommended System Requirements
-----------------------------------

CPU: 3 GHz Dual Core processor or equivalent
RAM: 2 GB
Disc Drive: 8x or faster DVD drive
Hard Drive: 10.5 GB or more free space
Video: Shader Model 3.0 support with 512 Ram (Nvidia(R) Geforce(R) 7900 GT or better)
Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Input: Dual-analog gamepad

1.4 DirectX
-----------

DirectX 9.0c or DirectX 10

================================================== ===================

2) Performance

================================================== ===================

2.1 Resolution
--------------

It is recommended that when running the game on a minimum specification machine, screen resolutions of either 640x480 or 800x600 be used. On a recommended specification machine resolutions of 1152*864 should provide good performance. On a high end machine 1280*1024 on a standard 17 inch LCD monitor will give very good performance.

2.2 CPU Speed
-------------

NBA 2K9 is optimized for dual core machines. If the game is run on a single core machine, a processor of 2.4GHz or better is required to get reasonable performance. The higher the clock speed of the processor the better the game will run. Most dual core machines will be optimum for NBA 2K9.

NOTE: Performance is likely to be significantly slower with certain laptop video cards/processor configurations. Please ensure that your system configuration is in-line with at least the minimum system requirements.

2.3 Memory
----------

Memory or RAM can sometimes greatly affect game play. Machines with less memory will access their hard disk more frequently to load data, which causes sporadic pauses in game play. Machines with a lower end processor and video card that has 256 MB of RAM or less, should make sure that there are no active running programs in the background. This will optimize performance and make the gaming experience better for the user.

For good performance we recommend at least 1 GB of system memory. For optimum performance we recommend at least 2 GB of system memory.

2.4 Better Performance for your Game
------------------------------------

If performance issues are observed, it is then recommended that the user selects a lower screen resolution as well as lowered detail settings from the video options screens (Options -> Settings -> Video Settings/Advanced Video Settings).

will i able to run the ultra high setting with this specs:

CPU 3.06GHz

3.07GHz, 1 Gb of Ram

Encore GeForce 7300GT 512MB

Run this:

Select Bioshock, IIRC as benji said.
If it passes the Recommended specs, then you're probably good to go.

thanks gee!~~

tell me guys, does a geforce 9400 GT good enough to play 2k9?

or i need something stronger??

and...at last i found out that the HD 3650 price is 59 dollar with 512 MB memory at 128 bit same with the 9400.

tell me which one to get.

Yes a 9400GT is more than enough for 2k9

Sun Oct 19, 2008 12:13 am

kobe16, how about 7300gt ?

am i able to run the Ultra high settings with 8500gt 512mb, 1gb of RAM?

Mon Oct 20, 2008 11:25 am

The tests shadowgrin was talking about recommended 7900 GT, so I guess you'll be able to run it at high if you have 8500 GT. Not sure if it's good enough for Ultra high though.

Mon Oct 20, 2008 11:36 am

Modifly, what about an 8600 GT

Mon Oct 20, 2008 11:47 am

kobe16, come on, there's only a slight different between 8500 GT and 8600 GT are there not? :)

I think you'd be able to run it at high, but I'm not certain about ultra high. I'm no graphic cards experts...

Mon Oct 20, 2008 11:53 am

true true. i shouldn't have asked. I'm just trying to get a 8600Gt just for 2k9

Mon Oct 20, 2008 11:57 am

It's OK to ask though, and I'm happy to answer if I can. ;)

Damn you though, I wish I can afford a new graphic cards so I can run 2k9 at it's maximum..

Mon Oct 20, 2008 12:01 pm

well i have to wait to the 31st to get my check and i already have a bad graphics card. I have a 7300 LE. So i have to play it on low until i get my new graphics card :-x

3650. Look at the chart.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/Bes ... 033-7.html

You can clearly see that the 3650 DDR2 is at least 2 classes above the 9400. For the same price, why will you buy anything else?

Mon Oct 20, 2008 5:55 pm

will this work?

AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ Socket AM2
Jetway M2A581 570X Crossfire /Dual DDR2/Sound
Kingston 1GB PC6400 DDR2 800
Samsung 80gb 7200rpm SATA 3Gb/s
Inno3D GF8600GT 1024 MB DDR2 128bi

thx :D

If you have meet the minimum and the recommended specs of the game then please dont post your specs here anymore since it is not necessary since it feels like your just bragging how good or how bad your system is :?
