FINALLY

LOL after all that, he just signs the qualifying offer.

meh, better then nothing, hopefully he'll play good and get a nice long contract from Chicago next off season

Fri Oct 03, 2008 1:22 am

He agrees with the only contract he can reach... If not he would be like Varejao in last season...

I can see him landing in Europe next year... He's not worth all the money he wants... in my opinion

Fri Oct 03, 2008 1:03 pm

Quite possibly, though he might find that the money the Bulls are offering is the best deal he's going to get anywhere next offseason. In any case, good that it's sorted so it won't linger and become even more of a distraction.

yeah hopefully now they can sort out their back-court jam (trade hinrich and huges!!!) and play well

Sun Oct 05, 2008 1:08 pm

Easier said than done but hopefully they can sort something out.

No question, that new agent didn't do him any favours.

Mon Oct 06, 2008 9:28 pm

agreed, he would have been in a much better situation had his agent accepted the long term deal instead of getting a lousy qualifying offer

Tue Oct 07, 2008 11:02 am

If he has a similar season to his 2006/2007 campaign then I'd say the Bulls will make a similar offer next year, somewhere around the $60 mil mark. He's probably not going to get a better deal than that.

Tue Oct 07, 2008 6:04 pm

yeah, hope his agent learns from this time round and actually accepts it instead of being stupid by throwing rumors around in hopes that the bulls are going to raise their offer

Wed Oct 08, 2008 1:29 pm

Yes, trying to create leverage when they really didn't have any was embarrassing to watch. If he does have a season similar to 2006/2007 and the Bulls don't blunder their way through the year as they did last season then perhaps both sides will come to an agreement on a slightly higher amount that satisfies everyone involved but I'd say the figure will still be in the same ballpark.
