VC and 2004 Dunk Contest?

Any truth to the rumor that VC wants to take part in the slam dunk contest this year?
I read this on Foxsports in their daily smack:

I thought there was some stupid ass rule against any player in the league longer than 2 years taking part in the contest?

If Vince came back to the dunk contest I wouldn't miss it for the world. I really hope what that article said is true and he does return and suprise everyone.

I think your eligability to participate depends on who hosts the slam dunk contest. Sprite the last few years held the Sprite Rising Stars slam dunk competition which only allowed players in the league for 3 or less years to participate. I hate that rule because then some really good dunkers are unable to participate. I hope the rule chages this year because I would love to see T-mac or Kobe enter as well.

If guys like Vince show interest in competing, they might waive the 3 year pro rule. Also consider Desmond Mason won't be eligible to compete this year if that rule is in place, so I wouldn't be surprised if they change the rules (again). That would obviously open the door for Vince to compete again; I guess he might if he doesn't feel too banged up by the All-Star break.

i wanna see someone do an "in air self ally-oop"..

explanation...player runs..jumps..and while in mid air bounces the ball off the rim or backboard...catches it back and dunks it all before landing. They have to do it with some finesse and flair..not just a simple tomahawk. Also, i wanna see someone do a front flip dunk but i guess thats far less likely.

/me imagines t-mac, kobe, carter, mason, steve francis and J-rich all in the same dunk competition.

I swear LeBron did that in the McD's Dunk Comp....Only when he dunked it it looked like the one in NBA Live 2004 not the Fliying Dr. J like one but the one where he swishes his hand to his side LeBron does it all the time...but it was either me imagining it happen or i saw it Sportscenter...after words i suddenly thought of that Dunk

BTW I loved the Commentary from the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest...The quotes and looks on peoples faces were PRICELESS

The contest definitely needs a couple more competitors, and a few more dunks. Get rid of the 3 on 3 (though it was great to see Nique in a Hawks jersey again) and bring back the 3 round format with 8 competitors.

i saw streetball episode and one of them did a dunk that i have been thinking about for a while! i thin kthis one will get anyone a 50 in the first or second or even last round

player throws himself an ally opps like J-Rich did and then does a 360 in the air with out the ball..then grabs the ball and dunks it. Even a regular dunk would get 50 but if u could windmill it or big O it then its better!!

I think that would be extremely hard to do with the timing and accuracy etc. It would be extremely amazing if some could actually do that dunk.

Another simple dunk that would rack up the points in the dunk comp would be just a 540. No one has ever really done that so the first person who did would get a lot of credit. It just like the elbow hang which is a simple concept but the first person who did it got a lot of points just for being original and not to many people can do it.

Yah, the 2000 Slam Dunk competition was the best overall competition this decade so far...in terms of level of dunkers and excitement..ie Francis, Carter, McGrady. Last year Richardson and Mason were awesome though!

I hope they stick to the similar style and avoid that 'spin the wheel' thing.

I wonder if Lebron James would enter?
It would be nice to see some old faces in the competition though..Carter, Bryant, Richardson, and Mason.
