Although Team USA is up 3-0 in the Olympics, if there ever comes a time when the team needs a basket in the final seconds to win a game, which player do you think should take the shot? Cast your votes...
EDIT: I'll vote for D-Wade given his good form so far during exhibition matches as well as the Olympics.

Michael Redd

Sorry fellas, how do i get the polls to work again?

I too would probably give it to Wade. Normally I'd say Kobe but his shooting has been a bit off so far in the tournament. Obviously a player of his clutch ability has the confidence to knock down that final shot even after struggling all game but this time I'd go with the hotter hand.

Yeah, i agree with lamrock...michael redd.
As for Wade...can he shoot??? he misses so many free throws with their game against greece...i dont think he deserves that last shot...

You've got a point there too...

who carez really. anyone on usa team is capable of making it but if i rly had to, then i'd go for wade atm. seems he thrives in international games.

6. Lebron James
5. Chris Paul
4.Carmelo Anthony
3. Micheal Redd
2. Wade
1. Bryant
(IMO)

Kobe, he's the best player on the team even tho he hasn't been playing like it. But that's because all of the players are unselfish.

I'd give it to LeBron. The guy's so good at getting to the basket, and I'd definitely count on him to perform in crunch time. Wade I'd give to second.

1. Carmelo (He got so many buzzer beaters the last two years)
2. Kobe (No doubt)
Rest doesn't matter
Redd can't create his own shot that well so I wouldn't want the ball in his hands

I think Kobe would be the obvious choice.
Sat Aug 16, 2008 5:59 am
How consistently good is Kobe in the last 2 minutes of a close game?
Sat Aug 16, 2008 6:22 am
I'm sure benji would be able to confirm or deny this, I don't have any stats showing it, it just feels like an obvious choice considering the rest of the team. Yes, LeBron, Redd and Wade can hit some big shots at the right moment, but I think overall, Kobe's pretty much the designated "killer" in this team.

not lebron unless u are down 2 or 1 points and have time to drive in the lane.
otherwise he will just jack up a LeBrick

Figure out the part about Kobe I find most distressing. (And someone tell LeBron to stop taking so many crunch threes.)

Turnovers?!
Sat Aug 16, 2008 10:18 am
Damn, I wasn't aware he turned it over that often during crunch time.

From that list, Steve Nash and Manu look like the two best clutch shooters. Manu is shooting 61% on FGs and Nash is shooting over 50% on 3's and 2's. None of the people who are traditionally thought of as being clutch are nearly so good, though, anyone who has watched either of them in the clutch would attest to how good they are.
Too bad they don't play for team USA. I'd probably give the ball to Wade just because of how well he has played. Jump shots have not been team USA's strength, and Wade is the best to get it to the basket and make either a difficult shot or get fouled. If Lebron got fouled, he'd probably miss his free throws.

Perhaps Tayshaun Prince, Carlos Boozer or Michael Redd..because during crunch time, the USA team are already ahead by 20+.

kobe just can't seem to find rhythm in olympic at the moment. it was wade all along who made big plays in important stretches so far. also lebron showed some greatness that he's capable of being a leader in a team full of superstars. meanwhile, tayshaun, redd and boozer seemed to be less used when it matters a bit.
overall kobe's plays looked bit selfish to me. he took shots he would normally take and he passed the ball the way he usually does in LA. However, he forgot to make an adjustment for the team. rather it seemed like it was lebron who looked better off as the leader. well... just my 2 cents watching olympics.

There's no crunch time if you're up by 20. That'd be garbage time.

expect kobe to be aggressive starting this quarterfinals..kobe is doing a mental showboating..leaving the dunkings to lbj and wade..and just firing some outside shots when they face not so touted teams like angola and china..
