When to release a jump shot?

Postby FanOfAll on Sun Nov 16, 2003 9:59 am

I've read that you should release at the peak of the jump...and also taht you release right after the peak? I tried both with practice mode but neither was consistent. So when to release? Thanks

Release whenever the shot looks like a real jumper. Not when they double clutch or they pull their hands back quickly.

I just recently switched to CPU controlled because I couldn't consistently get the release point right. You get blocked more this way but you have to adjust and then it all works out.

ruffryder, i meant when it's a textbook style jumpshot (which happens a lot for me) when do i release? it seems like they will miss the open jumpshot...and yes i have tweaked my sliders

ChiBulls, what does the CPU controlled do?

Hmmm. Not sure if you want to get it textbook. Just watch the way the cpu releases. Its probably right.

when taking a jumpshot while player is jumping in the air player will straighten up when the ball is in line with the rim and the player is at the peak of he's jump release the shot.

What I mean is that on a textbook jumper, I can control when I want the player to release the ball. Let's say KG just jumped in front of Rashard Lewis, so I would want Lewis to release the ball a little later so taht it's not blocked. Right? But let's say I'm wide open and I have Vince Carter take a jumper. When do i release? I've read at the peak and I've right after the peak.

u should release your button at the peak
a textbook jumper is released at the peak.. but it mite be inconsistent ppl tend to haf the shot released BY the peak.. it should be released at the peak.. soo your hand should snap when ur at the peak of your jump
therefore
hold ur shoot button until u c the peak and riteaway release it

i never really had that problem since maybe nba live 96?
should be very consistent in practice mode almost all your open standstill jumpers should go in 100% within range and i mean 10/10 shots if you get it right..
