Talk about NBA Live 08 here.
Tue Aug 05, 2008 11:18 pm
Just to update everyone, I am still working on the roster updates for NBA Live 08, 07 and 06. I still cannot set dates for their release but I am working hard to get them out as soon as possible. The post Draft update is one of the most tedious and time consuming but I'm certainly making progress and will do my best not to keep everyone waiting too much longer.
In the meantime, I've finished creating this year's sixty draftees and have completed a first pass through their ratings. I've decided to post a spreadsheet with their ratings so that I can get your feedback and any corrections for players who should be left handed (I've already noticed a couple) before the rosters actually come out. If any other roster patchers would like to use any of these ratings as a base, please feel free to do so.
Rookie Ratings
Please note that I'm looking for honest, constructive and intelligent feedback here on all ratings, not just the overalls. I can also do without the childish "lol omg these ratings suck" nonsense; if you see something that doesn't look right, by all means point it out and suggest new ratings but please do it without the attitude. Thanks.

Hi Andrew, thank you very much for your updating.
No.29...Name should be Donte Greene,is not Green.and he scored 40 points in one of the games,I think his Field goals and off awareness could be a bit higher....65?maybe.Just for reference.Thank you.

Thanks for the feedback, I've made that correction while I remember it. Your suggestion has also been noted.

As pointed out, that Donte Greene is the correct name and not Donte Green. And it's Nicolas Batum, not Nicholas.
I think Rose needs a little bump on his dunk rating. I recalled seeing a lot of his high school highlight reels being filled with dunks so he can finish at the rim with regularity.
Aside from that, everything looks good.

Thanks for the heads up on Batum. About the dunk ratings, smaller players like Rose often don't dunk as much once they get to the NBA but I'll certainly consider raising them. I can always assign a better dunk package to ensure they have a realistic array of dunks.

Andrew. I think Love's rating in 3pt shooting should be more higher because as i have seen in his highlights, he could shoot from downtown. i cant really estimate the rating but i know you could. i hope you would consider.

Thanks, I'll certainly take another look at it.

nice one andrew, i actually have been having problems locating ratings for rookies. i have some questions though
1.how do you come up with these ratings? because im using the wonderful ratings machine made by cervantes and the ratings are way too high, i mean for rookies. because the info im using are from their college stats so of course its understandable that their ratings would be different in the nba
2.as one, if not the best roster patcher, would you suggest using the ratings machine to update current nba players?(non-rookies) or not?
thanks andrew and good luck with them ratings.
by the way andrew, can you add ratings for non 2008 drafted players? but are also new in the nba like dwayne mitchell, will bynum, will solomon, and othello hunter. thanks!

I'd definitely recommend using the ratings machine as a base but keep in mind that big numbers in college doesn't always translate to stardom in the NBA. You have to account for teams in weaker conferences (I don't claim to be an expert here, I go by the scouting report), the closer three point line and the high standards of the NBA.
I probably won't be updating that spreadsheet, but I'll be inviting feedback on the other players when the rosters come out. Now that I've got the 08 rosters in order for the most part, I can catch up a bit with 07 and 06.

andrew
dunking and jumping for joe alexander should be over 80

His ratings have been adjusted based on the feedback so far.

Can you add Hamed Haddadi, the Iranian Center that the Grizzlies just signed. Keep in mind he led the olympics in rebounds and blocks per game during pool play.
Thanks for considering, and thanks for all the work you do for us.

Yes, he will be added. Anyone who needs to be added will be in the roster update itself, I only released this file to get some early feedback on the draftee ratings.

Hi, Andrew
First of all thanx for all the hard work, its fully appreciated and it looks awesome
so, my two quick questions -
1. if i've just installed the nba live 07, didnt add no patches or anything can i install your roster patch (once its out) and play the game or do i need something additional ?
2. will it have the updated uniforms and no i dont mean the new minnesota/oklahoma/orlando/orleans uni's i mean for example the bobcats blue uniform and nets red ones (the uniforms which were not on the nba live straight after installation) ??? i just remember it was included on one of your other roster patches i used so will it be on the upcoming one too?
thanx for the answer and once again for all the great work you're doing...

andrew, should i give greg oden a 50 on his primacy/clutch rating? because he's a 1st round 1st pick rookie or should it be higher? because even though he's still a rookie he has already familiarize himself with the blazers play of basketball? and has been around for sometime, its just that he's not played yet. what do you think would be the appropriate rating for this?, thanks and i appreciate your opinion on this, thanks!
Sat Sep 06, 2008 11:06 am
I'd give him a higher Primacy rating as I expect he'll be one of their top options on offense (with Brandon Roy being the number one option). I wouldn't go any higher than 50 with his clutch at this point, let's see how he plays in crunch time of an NBA game first.

I've been meaning to fix up the installation file so that it detects the correct folder for the artwork. I'll see what I can do.
