Can you add rookies to your current roster?

Mon Jul 28, 2008 1:31 am

I already have a save roster that I am happy with and would just like to add rookies from Alby's roster to my current roster for completion. Is this possible to do?

yes with DB Commander you can

Can you explain more?

Open players.dbf from your roster on one side in DB Commander, and Albys on another. Find the lines with players you want to have in your roster and you can just copy the lines but be careful with the player IDs, make sure that every ID is used only once in the whole file, otherwise it will probably crash.

Note the IDs of players that you copied in Albys roster.

Then open appearance.dbf from your roster on one side and Albys on another. Find in Albys file the IDs of players you copied and copy them to your file but give them the same IDs that you gave in players.dbf.

If you do it right, it should work with no crashes and other problems. Good luck.

Spree#8
that was perfect and thats exactly how you do it.
unfortunetly i learned this on my own after messing up a couple of my roster files luckly i backed it up..
So remember to back up all your files before attempting and chnages in dbcommander, also i learned in the options tab up on top, check save files when exit. so your files can be saved after any changes and you close the program.. good luck

What about face patches? Do some of the ID link to face patchs? If you do this, will it distort your current roster? I remember trying this in the past and it messed up my roster and I was able to resolve that by changing team to free agent.

No, player IDs have nothing to do with the faces. You assign player a face by typing 2 first letters of his first name and 5 first letters of his last name in the field "PLAYERPKG" in players.dbf file. For example:

Michael Beasley - MIBEASL

If player's last name is shorter than 5 letters, do this:

Derrick Rose - DEROSE_

Then you need to open appearance.dbf file and make sure that "FACE" field in player's line is set to -1. If you have his face file in your sgsm directory in the main game folder, face should appear.

You assign portraits this way also, but this time only type in PLAYERPKG and make sure that the "ISCREATED" field in players.dbf file is set to False.

Same here. ;)

No better way to learn to patch than making a few mistakes. After all, it's just as important to know what not to do, especially when working with the databases. ;)

Yeah, now I know that I have to be very careful with database files. Sometimes one wrong value in a wrong field is enough to mess up whole roster.

In my sgsm folder, there are so many files that were install there from patches. How do I know which ones are face patches?

They will consist of .fsh and .ebo files and correspond to a PLAYERPKG value, eg begordo.fsh/begordo.ebo.

I found out an easier way. Instead of copying new players to my current roster, it makes more sense to just copy the rating of the players in my current roster and replace those rating of the new roster. Then I would essentially have my current roster with new rookies.
