Chris Andersen Back To Denver!

Thu Jul 24, 2008 11:53 am

Chris "The Birdman" Andersen will return to the Denver Nuggets next season. He agreed to sign a one-year contract with the team, multiple sources said Wednesday. Andersen, who resides in Denver, will make a league minimum $998,000 next season. Andersen, a forward-center, played sparingly last season for New Orleans after returning from a two-year league suspension for substance abuse. He was reinstated in March

Meh, he is a great energy and all but...I just don't think the Nuggets are a team that need any more problematic players. Let's just hope he is a changed man and nothing bad happens.

i think he's the one that they want for replacement to camby...

"Problematic players"?

I don't see how he's problematic. It's not like he was chasin' the bloody dragon for two years there or something. The guy probably just smoked too much of the good herb, or did a bit of coke or such... and got caught. Can't really blame him for being stupid... most athletes aren't known for their cunning intelligence and witty minds.

I'm sure he learned his lesson and such...

He's no Ron Artest.

Well, that's true, should have worded it differently. What I meant was that Nuggets are full of distractions because of the known attitudes of its players. Even though it was just a banning for possession on weed, it still marks distractions to be known publicly. Look at Josh Howard situation.

Thu Jul 24, 2008 3:07 pm

Josh Howard is a badass for stepping up and tellin' it like it is.

Hell, you got good ol' Bobby there in your signature. He sure as hell would have been proud of Josh for steppin' up for the ganja without no shame.

Other than that... those "distractions" do not influence the team or such. No one inside the organization really cares that much other than the PR guys. It doesn't affect the basketball... and that's all that really matters in the long run.

Thu Jul 24, 2008 4:07 pm

Look out western conference.

Thu Jul 24, 2008 5:13 pm

I heard that he's a bully.

Well, that's not entirely true. If he's suspended or banned from the league again, they'll be without his services which they're obviously interested in for them to have signed him.

Yes, that was what I meant by "distractions". Trust me Brave Sir Rubin, I am not blaming him for smoking weed, not at all. I shouldn't be the one saying that since he was banned for weed, he is doomed for messing teams up, I am a huge Marley fan, weed is my friend! But reality is reality, in professional sports or businesses, drug use is seen negatively. That's what I meant by distractions.

Thu Jul 24, 2008 11:27 pm

He wasn't banned for testing positive for marijuana though, the suspension fell under the category of "drugs of abuse" which doesn't refer to performance enhancing drugs or marijuana under the NBA's drug policy. It was more likely something like LSD.

Fri Jul 25, 2008 1:33 am

I'm guessing that it's cocaine, seems like an athlete's drug of choice.

You can't test for LSD, it leaves your system pretty fast.

Anyhow... the guy is clean, I don't see how it's a concern. I think that he learned his lesson when he lost a good couple of millions.

Sure, drug use can be a negativity... but it's not like he has been lightin' up that crack pipe for the last 2 years.

For some reason I highly doubt that Chris Andersen will ever fail a drug test again in his entire life.

That's so pathetic and sad. So you're a fan of Marley's music and because he smoked dope, you have to as well?

Fri Jul 25, 2008 4:54 am

Are you on crack? Did the guy ever say that he listens to Bob because Bob smokes or smokes because Bob smokes?

People that listen to reggae just usually smoke... it's a correlation.

Fri Jul 25, 2008 5:20 am

great ill see how he ll play with ai and melo

Fri Jul 25, 2008 6:26 am

I'm glad to see a player like Andersen, to fight back 2 years and make the league again.

If he stays clean, I clap him :)

Thank you! My point exactly!

Wait....what?? huh? When did I ever say that I'm a fan because of that?? I'm a fan of his music and his beliefs. Nowhere in my post did I say that I like him because he smokes weed. Show me where I said that.

I was under the impression that Stanley Roberts' suspension was due to LSD but I could be mistaken. I agree that cocaine is probably the more likely drug though.

Fri Jul 25, 2008 2:54 pm

http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd_testing.shtml

It only stays in your urine for up to 72 hours... so good ol' Stanley must have taken the drug, done something pretty damn crazy, got caught, and got immediately drug tested.

I really do wish that the NBA would release more information on drug suspensions. It could be hilarious.

Fri Jul 25, 2008 10:10 pm

Thanks for the info. I guess it was probably cocaine then.

The Thuggets have been real laugh the past few years. They are the next NY Knicks.
