saturday night live anyone?

snl is probably one of the greater(and funnier)shows in tv history. i usually watch it most of the time when it is on. does anybody have a favorite skit or episode? post it here

i personally like the weekend update skits, beacus seth and amy always make fun of current events in hilarious ways..

Weekend Update skits are great. My favorite part of the show by far! However, the SNL now is nothing compared to how it used to be!

I remember Farley, Myers, Ferrell, Martin as some of the funnier ones. I know I'm missing so many others. Seth Meyers is great in this show! Not only does he do a great job on the Weekend Updates but he is the current head writer for the show and has done a good job with that!

I still watch it, just out of habit. The last two seasons have been fucking terrible though. Not a single good episode. Show has gone way downhill. Seth & Amy are the worst Weekend Update tandem ever. (Even worse than Colin Quinn)

My favorite show in recent memory was when Al Sharpton hosted about 5 years ago, and Tracy Morgan came back for an episode.

In my view, pretty much all the sketch shows (including the ones they do here in Australia, past and present) fall short when they parody other comedy shows. They all seem to fall into the routine of simply dressing their cast up to resemble the characters and having them act stupid, breaking character to explain the joke they're making about the show's style and failing to make a clever point about whatever they happen to be lampooning. The end result is a sketch that comes off as being very smug and unfunny in my book.

On the other hand, I find original sketches to be much more enjoyable and creative.

SNL these days is fucking pathetic. The writing is terrible and most of the comedians can't even act for shit. It's only popular because of its legacy and the "big stars" that host it, but it really isn't worth crap. Mad TV is a billion times funnier.

I agree; however, I do like the cast they have now compared to the cast between now and after Will Ferrell left. They just absolutely sucked then.
