 When I was small, I used to want to have facial and body hair so bad. Thank God that I'm not a hairy bastard

That bothered me for years until my beard finally grew thick enough for the moustache to "connect" to the goatee. On the plus side, my moustache doesn't grow very thick which suits the style I like to have.

I have to shave for work everyday....it sucks (N)

I grew a flavour savour once....apart from that, I usually don't shave on weekends & sometimes don't shave on holidays....if I don't shave for a few days, my dodgy mo' grows real quick....haven't tried to grow a full beard, I'd imagine it would be patchy in places....

The azn in me makes me look "Chinesey" if I ever grew facial hair too long, so I'm stuck with the stubbled look.

I've grown a goatee about two or three times just because I wanted to, but apparently nobody I hang out thinks I look good in a goatee. I usually shave every second day just cuz I'm lazy, and apparently I look good without one.

Jackal, why not get a Braun or Philips electric shaver instead of having to buy blades all the time? It might not be the closest, but it does a pretty good job.

Thu Jul 17, 2008 4:55 am

I tried some electric razors and couldn't stand them, I thought it'd save me a bunch of time but it still took forever for me, I guess it depends on the shape of your face. So I just keep using my good ol' blades, well, every once in a while at least...
I remember years ago when I let my goatee grow down to my upper chest and made a braid with it...Not very successful with chicks.

My circle of friends has largely given up on the "shave it all off" campaign which they've been running since high school, though every so often the suggestion is made. I've gone clean shaven a few times since I started keeping a goatee, the last time being a couple of years ago.

I tried that a couple of years back, it caused some irritation and I didn't like the fact it wasn't a close shave. I'm satisfied with the Gillette Fusion, just the blades are so damn expensive.

One thing I noticed is that the blades cost more than the contraption itself, so I just keep buying the razor itself instead of the blades. I have like 4 of them now. (One for my beard, one for armpits, one for balls and one for my anus. You know you can't use the anus shaver on your face, catch hepatitus all on your own shit. Literally.)

Shaving foam/oil or gel for you guys? I use the Fusion gel at the moment, when that's done I'm going back to the Nivea one.

Thu Jul 17, 2008 7:43 am

Cream for me, can't stand the gel for some reason. Also, if you want a close shave your best option is a straight razor. I've been using one for the past few months and it gets the job done much better than safeties. You have to know how to use them, though, otherwise you can do some pretty serious damage to yourself.

What do you guys use to trim your sideburns?

Thu Jul 17, 2008 7:51 am

Hair clipper.

Wait, I don't have side burns. I do use the clipper from time to time to trim my goattee whenever I have it.

Thu Jul 17, 2008 7:52 am

just the blades are so damn expensive.

I have the same razor and those fucking blades are like 8 or 9 bucks for 4 of them
Better enjoy them and make em last for that price...

Just my razor.

Thu Jul 17, 2008 7:53 am

I shave once a month... cause im 18 but with short hair and no beard I look like 16...

Some girls told me that... ¬¬

Thu Jul 17, 2008 7:54 am

8-9 bucks? I have to shell out 15 euro's for 4 blades and 12 euro's for the razor + 3 blades.

Thing is, if you use em toooo long, they start getting rusty and your hair tends to snag which causes more irritation. They say as soon as the blue strip is white, replace. Pff...I use em till they start taking off chunks of skin.

Mother of a hooker!!
It already kills me to drop that money since I hate shaving in the first place, I think 15 euros it would be the equivalent of maybe 18-19 bucks here...ridiculous shit. I guess we're actually privileged with Wal-Mart

Thu Jul 17, 2008 10:12 am

€15 = US$24. And that's not the most expensive, I believe. Wilkinson's Quattro blades all cost upwards from €20 here in Italy. That would be US$31.

wtf, i'd prefer to shave with knife!!!

Thu Jul 17, 2008 9:24 pm

I'm about ready to shave the sides to go back to a goatee so I picked up a new four pack of blades today for $12. An eight pack usually costs around $22.

Okay.. I've a question about the shaving: "What's the perfect age, to start shaving yourself?"

I really wanna know what is your opinion about this.. For me.. you have to start the shaving as latter as it is posible.. Coz i've heard that the shaving is really boring, and some peoples stop shaving themself regulary.. :?:

Fri Jul 18, 2008 7:13 am

As soon as a beard grows and you don't want to keep it?!
I hope you don't want to hear a specific date or something.

Fri Jul 18, 2008 7:25 am

Ofourse not.. Just something like 15 or 16.. But you know.. Every single man is different.. So nobody can tell for sure.. Anyway thanks.. Sure I'll have start shave myself soon.. :shake: Personaly I don't like beard.. (except some styles.. :) )

Fri Jul 18, 2008 7:57 am

Everyone's facial hair grows at a different rate, as soon as you feel your facial beauty is being obstructed by facial hair to show it's true beauty to the world, then shave.

Fri Jul 18, 2008 3:05 pm

Jackal, what a philosophical point! :) u right! but beard could also make a ugly man handsome!

I suppose it depends on how thick/long your beard is and what kind of look you're going for. Shaving isn't the most exciting activity but if you don't want to keep a beard or you need to keep your facial hair neat and trimmed because you work then at some point you're not going to have a choice except to shave.

I didn't shave until I was sixteen because my facial hair is much lighter than the hair on my head (I was blonde as a kid but my hair got darker in my teens) and it wasn't very thick when it first started coming in so I didn't really need to shave it until then. Someone with darker/thicker facial hair can't really get away with that and might have to start shaving sooner. As Jackal said, everyone is different in that regard.

I usually shave my beard every 2 days
