I like the sound of the Barons
Wed Jul 09, 2008 9:04 pm
It will be OUTLAWS !!!!

Interesting, I just assumed they'd have an abbreviation like New Orleans (NOH). Could they just be using OKC because they don't have a name yet?

I too like the sound of it....doesn't seem to fit with city's culture, but seems like not a bad choice....

Possibly. I could see them sticking with OKC though.

Yeah, you're probably right.

have you seen the poll in yahoo sports about "What should Oklahoma City's team name be?"? One choice there was "Oklahoma City !'s".. LOL.. Maybe they could include OKC ?'s.. or OKC $'s.. LOL..

That's awesome.
You have to say it super Rasta though, or else it doesn't work.

I heard on the radio today that the name (used by the summer league announcers) will be the ThunderCats.

If this is even close to being true it makes me want to renounce my heritage of being a born and raised Okie. ThunderCats? What foolishness is this? I was diggin the Barons or Aviators or Drillers. I don't see the Outlaws or the Drillers being used as
the Outlaws were a former USFL team and
the Drillers are currently a Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. (Both were (are?) based in Tulsa.) I just hope that Oklahomans don't add more fuel to the already raging ridicule fire by choosing the name ThunderCats.
The fans are wanting Black and Gold as the team colors, according to
this article. I really like the mockup/photoshop job somebody did on a photo of Durant using the Barons name. That would be something I would agree with. In case you don't read the article, don't expect to see the colors Crimson, Cream, or Orange, just to keep a distinction from the state's 2 major college teams.

lmfao ThunderCats. What a terrible franchise Clay Bennett has turned it into.
Fri Jul 11, 2008 9:41 am
Barons? They should sign Baron Davis as well.

Wait. This?
Really?

Clay Bennett is a douchebag. he should pull a Bob Johnson and call them something less silly than the THundercats like the ClayCats or something.
Sat Jul 12, 2008 12:10 pm
Kevin Durant and the PussyCats.
Sat Jul 12, 2008 1:11 pm
Thundercats just doesn't seem original enough when the league already has a team called the Bobcats.
Sat Jul 12, 2008 5:10 pm
Thundercats?
The two newest teams are named after a cat? What a catfight it would be.
EDIT:
According to a forum, it started as a prank during the Magic's summer league broadcast.

Why not the Thunderdogs (?)

I wonder if the Seattle Sonics ever return to the NBA, they'll be allowed to take maybe 1 or 2 players from Oklahoma to bring back to the franchise. Anyway, the sound of the Oklahoma City Outlaws ain't too shabby IMO.
EDIT: Just a thought. If the Sonics ended up winning the lottery and drafted Rose or Beasley, do you think they would've stayed in Seattle?

I'm sure there'd be an expansion draft so yes, they'd have that opportunity. They'd only be able to pick from the players that Oklahoma City didn't protect though so I doubt they'd be bringing back someone like Kevin Durant.

I highly doubt it. The owners wanted to move the team and it was approved before the lottery was held (if I recall correctly) so I don't think it would have made a difference.
