Alright, so we've got the Hall of Fame going for our all-time favourites. What are some of your all-time most disappointing games?
Since I'm here already, I'll begin.
NBA Live 08 (PC)
As with the last thread, I'll start with the NBA Live series. As much as I like the 360 version of last year's game, that's how much I dislike the PC version. It'll be worth a year off from a PC release if it means the end of this engine. I was hoping after all the issue with 07 PC we'd see a turnaround but sadly that wasn't the case.
NBA Live 07 (PC)
Disappointing but much more playable than its immediate successor thanks to an official update which resolved some of the issues. It hasn't been a good couple of years for NBA Live on the PC to say the least. I'm hoping for better days ahead as far as a return to the PC platform is concerned.
WWF Attitude (N64)
I remember being so pumped for the sequel to WWF Warzone and feeling really disappointed after playing it for the first time. Looking back, it's not a terrible game per se but few of the talked about features made it to the final game and despite the expanded and updated roster, it didn't feel like much of an upgrade. Perhaps it's because I'd grown fond of the engine used in WCW/nWo Revenge that would later be used in THQ's Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy once they got the WWF license.

I agree with you about the last two NBA Live's on PC. I do like Live '08 for XBox360 and PS3 though. I played WWF Attitude back in the day and I found the gameplay hard. It was frustrating to pull off signature moves and also the WWF superstars moved real clunky.
I did like WM2000 and No Mercy though... the engine was damn near perfect.

I nominate Double Dribble. I just disliked it whenever I used to play it. The CPU was ruthless on that game. And I wish there was more variety in selection of teams. Of course, it was not an NBA-licensed game so that may explain the lack of choice of teams and lack of modes. The cutscenes for dunks were okay, but got old fast.

Is 07 really that bad?

When compared to Live '08, I like Live '07 better. '07 wasn't horrendous, but it did have its fair share of faults as does Live '08 for PC...

Live 08 on PC is definitely way up in this list for me.
Also Splinter Cell: Double Agent on PC, an absolute broken, untested piece of crap. And I was a SC fan before that one...

Twisted Metal 3.

One of the worst baseball games ever, i understand it was early on in the video game world but come on, no names with a mlb exclusive license??
I dont know if all Simpsons games suck outside of the arcade game but from playing this game i lost my faith in my cartoon series of choice ever making a decent video game.
Its my fault for thinking a game based on a specific musical artist could be good (way before the days of Guitar Hero Aerosmith) But this is one of the worst shooters i've ever played, not nearly enough baddies although some of the weapons were fucking awesome
Thats all for now, im sure theres many many more

This game was just plain horrible. But it came out when Arena Football was regaining popularity and being picked up by ESPN... thought it would be like a smaller form of Madden but no....
only really "hall of shame" game that I've played that I can remember right now.

I'm having a tough time coming up with games I've disliked or been really disappointed in as well, which is why I only posted the three. Generally speaking, I only buy games that appeal to my interests so disappointments are restricted to titles like the ones I posted. I'm trying to think back to games I've rented and some of the ones I've borrowed from friends or played at a friend's place.

I have Double Dribble for NES. honestly it wasn't too bad, but the tecmo series was better. I hate it how it was impossible to make free throws in DD.
X-Men for NES (which I have) is quite possibly one of the most pointless games ever. you get to the end of a map/level, and there's nowhere to go, no end, no boss, only more enemies to fight until you die.

You guys just suck, admit it.
There's also a deadspot in the game whe you can make about 80% of the 3-pointers you take. I don't know if it's a deadspot or my l33t playing skillz.

I think I finished that one, I don't know how because I also remember coming across what Q experienced. Add to my frustration, I think the ending only has some sort of "thank you for playing" note to the gamer along with the in-game characters lined along the screen. That sucked.

That used to annoy me back in the day when I'd finish a game and all you'd get was a "thank you and congratulations" screen. Sure, you still had a sense of accomplishment but the games that featured some sort of cutscene/epilogue felt more rewarding.

You haven't arrived until Shadowgrin disses you. Thanks for the comment, but I do fine on my own, thanks.

double dribble owned tecmo basketball, nuts to all who disagree. tecmo basketball was by far and away the worst bball game i ever played, and they actually had the real players lol. i even put david robinsons full court over it and in that game you could just use bullseye bond to score endlessly from half court

I never played it but I remember it being panned by pretty much everyone when it came out.

Big Rigs over the road racing would be for me. At first i want to install it badly but when i read some reviews and watch some videos it made me not want to install it. It kinda like an unfinished game and some false advertisment

Priceless...and ha ha to you for actually getting that game.

Hard to believe that's a finished game. With clipping issues like that, I can't imagine the tracks are particularly difficult.
Tue Jul 01, 2008 11:13 pm
Looks awesome, I've never heard of it though. Maybe that wasn't too bad.
Tue Jul 01, 2008 11:32 pm
LOL hand's down one of the worst games ever, YOU'RE WINNER!

I vaguely remember a platformer on the NES featuring a space hero of some sort but I can't put my finger on the name. I remember trading in a game I didn't want for it, then going back the next day and trading it in for something else.
