Talk about NBA Live 09 here.

i really think that this is something that i've been waiting for in Nba Live for some time...now in dynasty mode i can use all of these drills to help out my players. And if there really is like 40 drills then that sound crazy(fun).
It also adds the effect that during the offseason you actually get to work out the rookies isntead of the one on one thing they used to have...I think if i see enough things that i like about the game its a def. pick up..
Wut about you guys?

I'd prefer to wait until more info is released and/or I get some hands-on experience with it but it sounds promising. It sounds like it will not only benefit the virtual players but might also be a fine way for the user to polish their skills, which is a great idea if they're implementing a new free throw system.
Thu Jun 19, 2008 3:35 am
yeah, i hope it helps players play more realisticly in online team play too...im gettin excited to early but this game sounds much better, especially if this new feature is as "ground breaking" as they say, and im glad to know the dunks look fluid this year
hope its a better game this year

The practice arena in recent work-in-progress trailer looks huge.

don't fall for this B.S. academy shitt guys. Its just a gimmick to draw back the customers that EA lost to 2k. LOL
EASPORTS=DISGRACE!
2K FOREVER!!!
Fri Jun 20, 2008 12:16 am
Well, they are trying to compete with them after all. Every game needs its selling points, including the 2K series. In the best case scenario, they're also worthwhile additions to the game.
Fri Jun 20, 2008 12:22 am
i hope you can use this in dynasty. looks fun i never seen this in a basketball
game before
Fri Jun 20, 2008 2:04 am
yeah the producers on the forum said you could practice drills with your team in dynasty to help develop them...and you can also use the academy to run your rookies through workouts to test there skills
i jus hope we can change the amount of games played per season..
Fri Jun 20, 2008 6:46 am
Yeah, the academy thing is Tight. . .They should add, Create plays, and you can run your own playbooks in the academy. /Prays

Id like to try it first after i make some comments but base from what ive read from the blog of the ea's president it is really a good addition to nbalive 2009 features
Tue Jun 24, 2008 12:30 pm
Now that they added this they really need to add saving during the offseason. I would like to be able to get a feel for which rookie to draft and be able to shoot around with the rookies in the coming draft.
Thu Jun 26, 2008 9:51 am
I think NBA Academy will be awesome.
Sun Jun 29, 2008 7:47 pm
From what I've seen, I think a lot of people will be excited by NBA Academy. I can't say much else just yet but I'll have a report up as soon as the embargo is lifted.
Mon Jun 30, 2008 3:19 am
How long until the embargo is lifted, Andrew? July? August? Or whenever EA gives you the go-ahead?
Mon Jun 30, 2008 3:22 am
Supposedly around a week, though I can't talk about the ground-breaking feature until after the E3 announcement.
Mon Jun 30, 2008 3:23 am
Question Andrew...do YOU think the feature is groundbreaking...if u cant answer this then its alright...but i just want to know if you feel it is groundbreaking
Mon Jun 30, 2008 3:29 am
I would say so, I think a lot of people will feel that way too. Some might disagree, particularly if they were hoping for something else but I think it qualifies as ground-breaking. I can't really say anything else away otherwise I'll be giving away details on it and that will have to wait until E3.
Mon Jun 30, 2008 4:51 am
I just Google'd it and we'd probably have to wait to find out about EA's "ground-breaking" feature for Live '09 until after E3 is over on July 17th, if EA doesn't announce it before then.
Mon Jun 30, 2008 5:04 am
Well I believe this feature will be ground breaking not only that but it brings back a sense of reality back to the game.I would love to train my rookies during the preseason so they can hone their skill so I think this new addition is a good idea.
Mon Jun 30, 2008 5:07 am
Just to confirm, NBA Academy isn't the ground-breaking feature; nothing that's been announced so far is the ground-breaking feature that has been alluded to. That's all I can say for the moment though.
I thought the announcement was coming July 14th but I could be mistaken. In any case, it will be announced at E3 in mid-July and presumably then I'll be able to talk about it.
Mon Jun 30, 2008 5:11 am
ohh okay but this feature will be helpful in my opinion
Mon Jun 30, 2008 5:18 am
I don't disagree, I just wanted to confirm it's not the ground-breaking feature, just in case there's any confusion about that.
Mon Jun 30, 2008 5:21 am
Ohh okay thanks for that
Mon Jun 30, 2008 7:43 am
I figured it wasn't, but NBA Academy still is a welcome addition to Live '09 though.
Mon Jun 30, 2008 8:52 am
Yeah it is it will be very interesting of who it plays in during the season
