I´m happy that Russia didn´t get into the finals, now it doesnt matter, who wins for me. Although I think I will be rooting for Spain, don´t know yet.

Fri Jun 27, 2008 6:54 am

I never liked Spain but they played an amazing game.
It's too hard to say who's gonna win the final.
Although I don't like Germany either, I think they can handle this one.

Spain is better technically but Germany is just such a physically imposing team. They're probably the best finishing team in Europe.

I'm VERY skeptical about Lehmann and their defense seemed pretty porous against Turkey. If Turkey can expose their defensive weaknesses...well, Torres and Co. will have a field day.

Are you some hurt Turk trying to hurt me by putting down Holland? If so...whatever floats your boat. Fact remains they're out.

"Jackal much better as Killer Crossover hehe Hotmale. :cheeky:   "

  you are a good man (Y)

GoHornets wrote:You can't say Turkey is better than Holand.
Come on, I undestand you can be angry, but let's be realistic

Okay my bad I mean in this tournament was Nederland in group games very good but vs. Russia in quarterfinal sorry (N) but I like Nederland-Football because they have awesome players always in theirs Team (Y) (Y) (Y)

Yeah Turkey had many luck but the games of Turkey was very amusing

Vamonos Espana! Vamos a demonstrar a esos Alemanes putos quien tiene el poder del futbol aqui!

El muro de Berlin se va a caer otra vez!

Those web translators must have some use...

Dictionary.com Translated version of StockaloneDuoLove's post wrote:Vamonos Espana! We are going to demonstrar to those putos Germans who has the power of soccer here!

The wall of Berlin is going away to fall again!

Anyway, go Germany, I only rooted for Spain to get those Italians out. I hope it doesn't come back to bite me.

Sat Jun 28, 2008 4:02 pm

there's no need for the "a" before caer because "caer" means "to fall".

Sun Jun 29, 2008 12:31 am

Actually, there is need for the "a" before "caer", or any other verb in this situation. Verbs in Spanish don't include the "to", so in this situation you have to put the "a" (equivalent to "to" in English) before the verb.

Never translate literally (nor using web translators), and remember that most linguistic rules that apply to one language don't apply to other languages, especially if we're talking about languages so different from one another, like English and Spanish.

Considering the sentence isn't even correct (it should be "Vamos España", not "Vamonos"), the translation would be:

"Go Spain, let's show to those fucking Germans who dominates soccer here!"

"The Berlin Wall will fall again!"

Sun Jun 29, 2008 2:06 am

Well, you would say "vamonos Espana" if you considered yourself a part of Spain... therefore you are going with them.

And you can say "a caer" or simply "caer" in this sentence and it would make sense grammatically either way.

Sun Jun 29, 2008 2:23 am

Think "se va a caer" is alright

I lived in Argentina for ten years and I frequently visit Spain (every summer since '04, occasionally in Christmas too) and I can tell you that by saying "Vamonos España" you'd sound like a silly foreigner.

The closest translation to English of the sentence would be "Let's go away (from here) Spain!", which makes no sense whatsoever. What you want to say is "Let's go, Spain!" (of course in a figurative way), therefore "Vamos España!". Where'd you hear anyone say that anyway?

And you can say "a caer" or simply "caer" in this sentence and it would make sense grammatically either way.

No, it wouldn't. "Se va caer" isn't correct grammatically, while "se va a caer" does. Again, English verbs include the "to" but Spanish verbs do not, therefore the verb "caer" literally means just "fall" in English, not "to fall", if one were to translate it.

You may be confused by this considering "se va a caer" and "se va caer" sound very similar, but the latter isn't grammatically correct.

This has become a stupid language thread no thanks to the four posters above. This should be about football, fuckers.

Anybody else think Fernando Torres would look real good as a woman (no homo) ?

Mon Jun 30, 2008 2:01 am

What time exactly is the game? I am on the ESPN-ABC website, and for some reason they are saying its starting 4:30 AM EST, does this mean its like starting near noon-ish on Monday? Or am I just looking at the wrong schedule.

Mon Jun 30, 2008 2:09 am

It´ll start from now 2 and an half an hour

Mon Jun 30, 2008 2:50 am

Good stuff, I thought it was Sunday and not Monday morning.

Mon Jun 30, 2008 2:50 am

It starts the same time the quarter and semi matches started.

it's 8:45 pm here, so it should be 2:45 pm ET.

Mon Jun 30, 2008 6:36 am

Good win for Spain, it was an exciting game.

Seems I have inherited the Andrew curse. Bad year for sports for me.

Mon Jun 30, 2008 6:41 am

I agree. I expected more goals, but it was ok.

What was Aragones thinking when he replaced Torres? Torres was the best player on the field. Didn't like that.

Great game by Spain. They deserved to win today.

I have to question some of Low's moves, though. Right, Lahm is a horrible defender, but don't coaches put out attacking defenders when they are down? Jansen is a better defender, granted, but he is lacks Lahm's pace and attacking force. And Miroslav Klose is arguably the best striker on the German team in this Euro Cup (and Gomes the worst).

Mon Jun 30, 2008 8:15 am

Bad game by my German homeboyz. Spain clearly deserved to win.

Well Lahm had problems with his foot, he is not a horrible defender usually, but did not seem to be concentrated on defense this EURO ...

We just were not able to beat those strong Spain with our lack of aggressiveness.

Mon Jun 30, 2008 8:22 am

Congrats Spain ! :applaud:
