This draft is simply weird.

Houston Rockets select Nicholas Batum from France with the 25th pick.
I expected him to go in the top 20 in this draft. But IMO, he's considered a sleeper.
EDIT:
San Antonio Spurs select George Hill.
Arthur has yet to be drafted. It turns out the reason teams are passing on him is because of a kidney problem.
So teams don't want to take the risk and draft him.
EDIT:
New Orleans selects.. Darrell Arthur.
Standing ovation from New Yorkers and even David Stern showing some love clapping.
I never thought Arthur would go this low. But at least he made it through the first round.
Reports say he may be traded to Portland for cash considerations.
Fri Jun 27, 2008 12:12 pm
Yeah, Arthur is traded.
Portland sure is building an arsenal of talent.
Fri Jun 27, 2008 12:14 pm
Greene is a bit of a steal at 28, he's a solid player
Edit: White to Detroit.
A tad far-fetched, yet it's guaranteed post-up talent, some pretty dunking, and well... Detroit know what they're doing... they did manage to draft Prince and Maxiell with late pics.
Fri Jun 27, 2008 12:25 pm
Boston picks J.R. Giddens.
Fri Jun 27, 2008 12:28 pm

Didn't expect Jordan and Douglas-Roberts to fall to the 2nd Round.
Fri Jun 27, 2008 12:29 pm
I thought the pick Portland bought from NO was a great deal for them. before they picked arthur, i said they should've picked him. if he worked out, great job by them. if he didn't work out, then they got tons of other picks & players that will.

Has anyone else noticed that Seattle have 6 picks in this draft?
By the way... who the hell is Walter Sharpe?
Fri Jun 27, 2008 12:41 pm
Can't believe that Chalmers went that low...
Good pick by Minni, I guess.

Yes. They have an obscene number of picks over the next three years. Fantastic GM work. Just like the Blazers of recent years.

I wonder why we choosed this thread to talk about the Draft and not the one called "Draft tonight".
Nathan Jawai hasn't been selected yet. I believed he was at least a first round player. I remembered there was a hole thread here dedicated to him
Fri Jun 27, 2008 12:49 pm
It's fairly impressive.
I guess that now both them and the Blazers need to step up on them trades.
Can't have all those players simply floating around in empty space, now can you?
Great steal by the Clipps too... Jordan might be a risk, but he sure can fly.
Fri Jun 27, 2008 12:51 pm
...and the Bucks draft the player with the longest name in professional basketball.
Add that one to your Guinness books.

Jing wrote:Man the Nets have a lot of frontcourt now. Simmons, Yi, Lopez, Anderson, they are really loving the bigs. Still can't believe Arthur is still there
You forgot Sean Williams, that's probably their only bright spot left in NJ aside from Harris and now Yi.

Drafting a European in such a strong draft with the 6th pick...... biggest mistake the New York franchise has ever made.
But who knows... Dirk, Peja, and Hedo (among others) worked out...
Knicks are a f-cking joke.

Almost as much of a joke as Spike Lee's "Bamboozled".
He's making an MJ documentary too, did you know that? Might actually be interesting. I hope that he doesn't cast himself as MJ though...
(Great steal for the Nets with CDR... the Magic scouted the shit out of him and I would have never thought that he would have dropped so much... he showed a whole lot of promise)
Fri Jun 27, 2008 1:06 pm
Patrick Ewing Jr. is now in the NBA, hell yeah.
Fri Jun 27, 2008 1:09 pm
They drafted him because of D'antoni. He played with Gallinari's father in Europe, and he can fit well in Knicks "new style".
So this pick was meant to be.
Fri Jun 27, 2008 1:50 pm
lol DeAndre Jordan dropped to the 2nd Round.
Fri Jun 27, 2008 2:10 pm
I wish the Pistons had kept D.J. White, he might be one of the late steals of this draft.
Fri Jun 27, 2008 4:25 pm
Thank god the Heat did not trade Mike Beasley. I just wanted to say that.
Fri Jun 27, 2008 8:13 pm
2 teams that did real well last night : Blazers and Nets. Nets had at least 2 steals plus they added Yi.
What 2 teams did you think did well last night (and 2 that didn't)
Sat Jun 28, 2008 1:47 am
Did well:
Portland and Minnesota
Didn't:
Memphis and Seattle maybe

I edited it for you.
Beasley will probably have a 20-8 rookie season. Since he's most likely to be the second scoring option next to Wade.
