The Cavaliers could look to send Anderson Varejao and Wally Szczerbiak to the Bucks for sharpshooter Michael Redd, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Cleveland is looking for a legitimate scorer to pair alongside LeBron James, and they would be able to provide Milwaukee with Szczerbiak's expiring contract and the chance to lock Varejao up with an extension.
If the Bucks aren't interested, the Cavs could try to swing a similar deal with the Warriors or Clippers for Baron Davis or Elton Brand.
I think both would be steals for the Cavs. I'm not sure that the Bucks or Clippers would be as willing to make those deals though.
Mon Jun 23, 2008 11:13 pm
Agreed, both deals would improve Cavs a lot. Clippers could make this deal, because Brand isn´t exactly sure thing to be with them next year and getting something for him would be better than nothing at all.
Tue Jun 24, 2008 1:27 am
Interesting... so you can actually get an all star player for Varejao and Wally. If they can pull off any of the deal above, it's going to be a steal for Cavs. Personally, I would like to see Bron with Baron. Baron's explosiveness and Bron's all around game will be just too much of fun to watch. But I am not too sure about Redd with Bron. Redd's likely to play a jump shooter next to Bron.
Tue Jun 24, 2008 1:47 am
Redd will probably cramp LeBron's style. Don't think either will want to give up shots. Redd jacked up about 20 shots a game last season, and LeBron had like 27 shots a game last season. Demand will be high.
Tue Jun 24, 2008 2:03 am
i dont see why either team (bucks or clippers) would make this deal but then again after the gasol trade i guess anything is possible
Tue Jun 24, 2008 2:57 am
The bucks i don't think so... but maybe the clippers
They nedd a shake in the roster and brand is coming from a ugly injury...
But what can have they in return? I don't see anybody nice in Cleveland to trade for
Tue Jun 24, 2008 3:53 am
If they get Brand, they'll have three good big men, Z, Ben Wallace and Brand.
Tue Jun 24, 2008 3:58 am
No chance in hell Warriors would make this trade either.....
Tue Jun 24, 2008 4:13 am
Well, I'd love to see Redd in a Cavs uniform.
Another rumor:
Source
"
And Finally . . .O'Neal to Cleveland?
Where there's smoke there's fire and there's so much smoke coming out of Cleveland that the whole city must be ablaze. What's circulating now is a rumor that involves as many as five teams in an effort to get either Michael Redd or Jermaine O'Neal to Cleveland. In either deal the Cavs wind up sending out Anderson Varejao and Wally Szczerbiak. There has also been talk that Varejao could end up in Oakland with the Warriors. The Cavs know they need another premier player next to LeBron James and they're working feverishly to make that happen."
I mean OMG!
Ferry, if you do this, your a god! Both JO and Redd in Cleveland with LeBron =
Many rings
Tue Jun 24, 2008 4:43 am
It did say Michael Redd or Jermaine O'Neal to Cleveland, not both of them
Tue Jun 24, 2008 5:40 am
LBJ+JO, would be kind a sick ! It would be similar to Kobe and Shaq- dynasty.
Tue Jun 24, 2008 6:46 am
Interesting. I like the idea of JO in Cleveland. I see Z being involved in a possible trade between them..
Hehe, imagine a roster like this for Cleveland:
C - Ben Wallace
PF - Jermaine O'Neal
SF - LeBron James
SG - Michael Redd
PG - Baron Davis
*Just posting this to see if Cavs fans will wet their pants..
Tue Jun 24, 2008 7:01 am
^^ Stop playing NBA Live dude
They wouldn't have any bench players left.
Tue Jun 24, 2008 8:16 am
^^Hehe, it was just a joke. And who would need a bench with that roster?
Tue Jun 24, 2008 8:28 am
Injuries particularly to O'Neal, Davis, and Redd in that order.
Tue Jun 24, 2008 8:55 am
O'Neal seems plausible. His stock is at an all-time low probably and with that monster contract of his I'm sure the Pacers wouldn't mind shipping him out for extra parts.

That remains to be seen. If Milwaukee wants to go back to the drawing board and ship some of their most expensive players out for expiring contracts then perhaps they're more willing to make the deal.

They would. I have that team winning 39 games if those guys played every minute at last years production. 96 points for, 96.5 points against.

The five players alone cost $79.2 million this season.

I dont think he was being serious...
If Brand is getting traded for shit all - then he's getting traded for shit all to Detroit...
Sheed + whatever is better than Szsczescerbieak+ whatever...

With all due respect to your comment, that still remains to be seen. JO is no Shaq. Besides, LeBron is a different player than Kobe. I was fortunate to watch a lot of the 2000-2003 Lakers when I lived in Los Angeles and that combo for all its troubles and infighting was the best combination in the NBA since Jordan and Pippen; 3 rings, 'nuff said.
JO is too injury prone and too old in my opinion and Z is talented but is hardly in the class of Garnett, Shaq, Stoudamire and Yao. Wallace is still a good defender and good rebounder but too much limited offensively.
I think the winner of next year's finals will either be Boston or a team from the Western Conference.
In my opinion, if LeBron wants to win a title, leave Cleveland and go somewhere else...
But, as far as your comment about O'Neal and LeBron... I agree that the Cavs would be even more dangerous and fun to watch.

Only person from that list I want to see in cleveland is baron. Can you say...cham...pion....ships?
Thu Jun 26, 2008 9:57 am
That would be terrible for the bucks. At least get something worthy of redd. I know freeing up cap room is a nice thing, but Varejao isnt that great of a player. I dont like players that arent intelligent basketball wise, and varejau is one of the most retarded players in the nba. At least get the 19th pick in the draft and another first round pick in the future.
Thu Jun 26, 2008 6:24 pm
well since O'Neal was traded to the raptors..... THAT wont be an issue. Redd would be a great addition.... but i think i like Baron Davis even more in CLE. how about Brand and Redd? my mouth is watering at the thought.
Sun Jun 29, 2008 2:11 am
Baron Davis is the better choice to Cleveland...
Redd someone in second case...
