Nba Live Academy...your opinions?

Postby 617KiD on Thu Jun 19, 2008 3:20 am

i really think that this is something that i've been waiting for in Nba Live for some time...now in dynasty mode i can use all of these drills to help out my players. And if there really is like 40 drills then that sound crazy(fun).

It also adds the effect that during the offseason you actually get to work out the rookies isntead of the one on one thing they used to have...I think if i see enough things that i like about the game its a def. pick up..

Wut about you guys?

I'd prefer to wait until more info is released and/or I get some hands-on experience with it but it sounds promising. It sounds like it will not only benefit the virtual players but might also be a fine way for the user to polish their skills, which is a great idea if they're implementing a new free throw system.

The practice arena in recent work-in-progress trailer looks huge.

Well, they are trying to compete with them after all. Every game needs its selling points, including the 2K series. In the best case scenario, they're also worthwhile additions to the game.

yeah the producers on the forum said you could practice drills with your team in dynasty to help develop them...and you can also use the academy to run your rookies through workouts to test there skills

i jus hope we can change the amount of games played per season..

Now that they added this they really need to add saving during the offseason. I would like to be able to get a feel for which rookie to draft and be able to shoot around with the rookies in the coming draft.

From what I've seen, I think a lot of people will be excited by NBA Academy. I can't say much else just yet but I'll have a report up as soon as the embargo is lifted.

How long until the embargo is lifted, Andrew? July? August? Or whenever EA gives you the go-ahead?

Supposedly around a week, though I can't talk about the ground-breaking feature until after the E3 announcement.

I would say so, I think a lot of people will feel that way too. Some might disagree, particularly if they were hoping for something else but I think it qualifies as ground-breaking. I can't really say anything else away otherwise I'll be giving away details on it and that will have to wait until E3.

I just Google'd it and we'd probably have to wait to find out about EA's "ground-breaking" feature for Live '09 until after E3 is over on July 17th, if EA doesn't announce it before then.

Well I believe this feature will be ground breaking not only that but it brings back a sense of reality back to the game.I would love to train my rookies during the preseason so they can hone their skill so I think this new addition is a good idea.

Just to confirm, NBA Academy isn't the ground-breaking feature; nothing that's been announced so far is the ground-breaking feature that has been alluded to. That's all I can say for the moment though.

I thought the announcement was coming July 14th but I could be mistaken. In any case, it will be announced at E3 in mid-July and presumably then I'll be able to talk about it. :)

I don't disagree, I just wanted to confirm it's not the ground-breaking feature, just in case there's any confusion about that.

I figured it wasn't, but NBA Academy still is a welcome addition to Live '09 though.
