Should I Trade Amare Stoudemire?

Mon Jun 16, 2008 4:39 am

I'm almost done with my first regular season (heading for the playoffs :D) and I was wondering who should I trade Amare Stoudemire for next season?

Basically I'm looking for a cheaper PF or C that is good in offensive reb and blocking. I was thinking about Chris Kaman, David West or Carlos Boozer.

My current roster is:
C - Dwight Howard
PF - Amare Stoudemire
SF - LeBron James
SG - Kevin Durant
PG - Deron Williams

The thing is, I like my current lineup but A. Stoudemire's skills are going to waste. So I wanna get rid of him and free up some salary cap at the same time. Anyways, what should I do?

Probably so, he's getting older, but i would keep him maybe a year more or so. see how he plays in the playoffs, see what happens. You've got a good lineup there, not sure on the team chem though.

I would go with what droptopflopmop said and hold on to him for a little while longer, if your doing good that is.. It might not be bad to have what your looking for, Off Reb & Blocking, in a bench player to get those key stops in the closing minutes of those close games.. That is if you dont already have one.. Not sure what their ratings are but maybe look into Mutumbo or P.J. Brown.. Mutumbo will probably retire after a year anyways and wont take up much salary cap.. Chemistry wise Brown has never been a conflict in any time he's been on my team.. Just a suggestion though..

Problem is, Brown won't last you over 2 years, and has no room for progression. I'd say if you're going to replace him, get a young gun, if ever so possible. Just a thought.

I would trade him for Al Horford hr will improve his inside scoring, he would be nice to compliment with D.Howard in rebounding and defense.

thanks for all the suggestions guys, i think i'm gonna keep him until after the playoffs at least. although Al Horford sounds good...

hopefully there will be a rookie PF i can draft next year and shape into another D. Nowitzki. :D (is that even possible?)

It's not out of the question but it's unlikely given you won't have a lottery pick. If there's such a player in the upcoming Draft, you'll probably have to trade for him during the offseason. Whomever you get with your draft pick probably won't have the necessary skills or the development potential.

You can trade for Barganni he is a big guy that can shoot

True, though that would be easier than trying to develop a generated rookie.

You can also trade him for Chris Bosh he is another young superstar in the making.
Do you know any young point guards i can trade for. i want to trade Josh Smith

How about Deron Williams?

Yea he is a nice player and it shouldnt take him much longer to reach superstar status like paul and nash

Wed Jun 18, 2008 4:46 pm

He's probably also the most attainable given Josh Smith's ratings.

im in my 3rd year and his rating is 86. im thinking about nash his rating is 87 and paul is 96. williams is 89

Don't get Nash - he is old and cannot be really developed any better.

Chris Paul and Deron are younger, and are already superstars. If you can't grab one of these stars, Rajon Rondo, Aaron Brooks, Daniel Gibson, etc. are good for development.

update:

so i finished the playoffs (knocked out in the first round by detroit :-( ) sigh my stacked team couldn't pull through!

anyways i drafted some level 70-ish rookies in the offseason and traded those unknowns for G. Oden (who's surprisingly at level 81 with one of those golden star icon. on top of that, he grew an inch since last year! :D )

btw, which lineup works better?
D. Howard @ C
G. Oden @ PF

or

G. Oden @ C
D. Howard @ PF

Thu Jun 19, 2008 9:45 am

I really don't know, but I think Howard at PF would be a little bit better.
This is just like Bosh and Bargnani (I'm not talking about the players - the situation is what I'm talking about).

Put Howeard at PF if you ask me.
