improvements i wanna see

Postby atlwarrior on Sun Jun 15, 2008 2:23 am

if they really want to be on top this year they might have to steal a couple of nba 2k8 features.
Some features in nba 2k8 i would love to see in nba live 09:
-signature crossovers and editable dribbling styles
-editable dunk/layup styles
-editable sigshots
-editable signature freethrows

other improvements i wanna see are smoother crossovers, jumping, and dunks

You're asking too much from EA. Choose one feature that you like to have added, EA will add that, and remove 5 other features from the previous version.

I agree with you there. Hopefully they will keep the cool features of 08 and add the ones we are hoping for 09.

I personally think that they should add few more things not saying that 08 was perfect.

I hope they add saving during the offseason and better generated rookies (meaning not a bunch of undersized players , and actually have some passing big men and power forward without overduing it.

Dynasty Mode on the 360/PS3 was a step in the right direction with the whole "push" aspect and the ability to simulate tasks like player scouting and training if desired. The three areas of concern with Dynasty would probably be accuracy (eg simulated stats), depth and functionality.

They should get someone that works for EA work undercover for Visual Concepts, wear a wire and a camera and pretty much mirror every gameplay aspect of the upcoming NBA 2k9. I really think the engine itself just needs a revamp. Honestly, I remember watching the press coverage of the nba live 07 where they were comparing older EA movements to new "improved" ones using McGrady as the puppet....And all I could think was, "the 2k series pretty much did this since the second or third one". EA keeps it's game flawed, so each year it can come out with something "new" and "innovative" instead of just making a solid fucking video game year in and year out.
Now, the pc version of 08 grew on me but i played it on my friends xbox and alot of the things that everyone works on for the game in this forum to make it good for the pc version (im guessing because EA got lazy) wasn't really fixed for the xbox version. Usually console versions are better but other than the graphics and arena environment it was pretty much crap. The shoes were crap, the player faces were crap (Kobe looked like a Mongoose) and little if any of the rookies from this year were on it. I just see alot of problems for EA down the line, because they don't pay enough attention to the things that make a game good. But if they were to start, it should be;

1.) Internet patches (via xbox live) throughout the year to upgrade the quality and consistency of lineups, rookies, free-agents, shoes and jerseys.

2.) Fixing the shot adjustment so it looks less like you just went zero gravity in the air for 2 seconds and can choose which hand using the directional pad.

3.) realistic moves. I mean, when do you see someone surrounded by 3 players go for a a flashy dunk? Flashy dunks need to be situation appropriate and not just thrown in there randomly.

4.) hop step/ spin move differentiating. Sometimes a big man can do a hop step, not just a powerful spin. There should be an extra way to choose between instead of just having one.

5.) Realistic Ratings...Factory settings for live 08 rate Javaris Crittendon at 83. Now call me stupid but I wonder if EA's scouting is done by blind Interns from Uruguay.

6.) Incorporate some real officiating. Sometimes I'll try to drive and get pushed out of bounds and I'm mad as all hell. Why? BECAUSE I GOT PUSHED OUT OF BOUNDS. That should be a foul in all countries, on other planets, in other dimensions...Sometimes illegal screens, offensive fouls away from the basket, and even a good old technical would be nice. But mainly stop the pushing no call crap.

7.) This list is getting long...Really all the things on this forum that made 08 better (primacy, fatigue fix, rating fix, roster fix, shoe patches, player creations, team plays, fast break way points, artificial intelligence, sim scoring) need to be dedicated year round to their game that releases for consoles. The 2k series have
patches now and then and it's nice to know that even though it may not be a huge difference that they fucking care. ;)

Improvements I want to see are

1) Generated Rookies- first way too many undersized rookies especially at the SG position one or two per draft is fine no more than four in one draft. Here is what i think the heights should be in general

C- 6'10"-8'0"
PF- 6'8"- 7'2"
SF- 6'6"- 7'1"
SG- 6'4- 6'8 or 6'9"
PG- 5'0- 6'8"

also with Generated Rookies I think the announcer should be able to say the players first and last name and even talk about them. While I just now thought about it I would like to see a dominant center once around every 5-10 years in the draft that comes in and plays like Shaq or Yao. One More thing an occasional passing power forward or center would be nice but not being overdone.

2) Realistic Ratings- First off Josh McRoberts gets like an 89 while Oden and Durant get like a 75 rating in 08 what in the world? I did read somewhere that the top 5 rookies will get an 85-90 rating this year which makes more sense. Whether that was true or not who knows

3) Create A Team- Would like to see where you can add four more teams in the dynasty mode. You add four more teams in the NBA from a list of teams and then if you want you get to pick one of the teams which I would because I like teams that need rebuilding.

4) Realistic Stats- leading rebounds with only 8.0 RPG and then also mostly star players leading in assists instead of mostly point guards. Sebastian Telfair is scoring 30 PPG in a dynasty I have going. The leading scorers should be scoring around the low to mid 30's per game then other around 20 or less.

5) Passing- I didn't like the passing all that much in 08. I liked the passing in 07 and 06.

6) Saving- My first thing with saving would be saving during the offseason that is really annoying. 2K series let's you save during the offseason and if EA really wants to somewhat compete with 2K then that would be one starting factor to be able to save during the offseason. I also would like to be able to save in the middle of a game whether in season or dynsaty and be able to come back to it later.

These are the hieghts I have encountered.

More Like:
C: 6'8"-8'0"
PF: 6'6"-7'2"
SF: 6'4"-6'11"
SG: 6'0"- 6'8" (more than 50% are 6'3" or under)
PG: 5'9"-6'1" and 6'7" (there has only been one rookie over 6'1")
