Collections

I believe we've done this before but if so I'm fairly sure it was a while ago. In any case, what kind of things do you collect? Anything unusual or expensive?

My collection includes:

Basketball cards (though I haven't actively collected them since the 90s)
NBA jerseys and other assorted NBA/basketball memorabilia
Video games (I've still got all my old consoles and tracked down a few old favourites on eBay)
DVDs
Beer Bottles (usually expensive ones I've been given as a present)

I've also got hundreds of VHS tapes with my favourite TV shows (those that haven't been replaced with DVD boxsets), NBA games, episodes of NBA Action going back to 96/97, comedy specials and random recordings such as sketches from Conan, Leno and Letterman.

The most expensive items in my collection would probably be the authentics I bought in New York last year, though I don't like to think of the money I've spent on the other stuff through the years, especially NBA tapes from PonTel and trading cards. Still, if you're passionate about it and it's not self-destructive then I believe it's healthy enough. It just doesn't pay to do the maths sometimes.

Used to be a big fan of Pokemen during its craze. Still have I think somewhere in my house a huge stack of Pokemon cards. Also when I was in elementary school, I loved to collect those Hot Wheel cars. Of course a shitload of Basketball cards. I got like the 2000 USA Olympic cards. Haven't bothered to collect stuff now... though I guess maybe now I collect discs and Ultimate jerseys, mainly through trading with other players.

lets see, 3 things come to mind

1. jerseys, this includes the nba,nfl,and mlb. however the nba is the only sport in where i will buy a jersey for a team outside of boston, in the nfl and mlb its patriots and sox or nothing

2. comics, i stick to marvel though now and then i will get a dc mini series, very rare though

3. simpsons stuff, at last count i think i had dropped about $2000 on simpsons items. it saddens me cause now that i have a family i could use that 2k lol


i guess DVD's could count as a 4th but that collection has seriously slacked off of late

I didn´t collect cards for Pokemon etc, but I did something called "caps" or something. I remember like few years ago, I used play with these a lot. As I think, I can´t think of anything I collect, closest one is Dvds I guess(like Tv shows and movies).

EDIT: As i saw Sauru´s post, I remembered that I have like 200 or something comics, Mickey Mouse mostly.

I used to collect basketball cards as well, mostly Upper Deck. I still have a zillion of them, I should probably try to sell them.

Besides that, not much, probably just CDs, I have quite a few of them.

Oh, and Puma shoes.

Coins ( current coins [EEK] ).

Anything that has to do with the music, movie or television industry.

I have over 2 TB worth of TV shows and movies (not counting DVDs and VHS tapes), not to mention almost all Daily Show and Colbert Report episodes of the past two years.

Other smaller collections include concert posters, movie memorabilia, CD's, coffee mugs (every time I go some place new, I have to get a coffee mug with the town's name on it) and, like Andrew, beer bottles. Got over thirty of those.

I also keep tickets, receipts and clothes tags for no reason. I have zillions of them flying around my bedroom and I never throw them out.

Franks Miller's stuff.

Mostly audio CD's of rock bands and WWE PPV's. Plus Star Wars stuff (but all the least-priced ones).

Did a lot of collecting when I was a kid, not anymore though. Things included: coins, stamps, comic books, pogs, marbles, and a small collection of cards that included Garbage Pail Kids, Marvel cards, basketball cards, and WWF cards.

Does that include figurines and the like? I don't usually go for Simpsons collectibles but they did release a few series of figurines that were being sold in supermarkets for $2 each. I got the first three series, figuring I could perhaps profit from them on eBay down the road.

I collect all NBA items.
I also collect Kobe`s basketball cards.

it`s numbered to /8 so it is a rare card, very rare(only 8 in the world)

I forgot. I used to collect Pokemon cards, when I was younger of course.
