I begin practice with or without my friends from 5:00 am- 2:00 pm. If my friends can't take it they'll go home but I always stick of ending practice at 2:00 pm leaving me alone.
Here are some guides for a basic shot:
1. Two-handed shooting? Use only your shooting arm
2. Using all five fingers when releasing the ball? Use only the Thumb, Index and Middle fingers. The Pinky and the Fourth finger are only use to hold the ball.
3. Shooting with your hand? The arm shoots the ball not the hand. The momentum starts from the feet and stops at the wrist.
4. Don't know how to follow through? When the momentum stops at the wrist, quickly flex your wrist at the same time the ball must roll on the 3 fingers I talked about, this will give the ball backspin. It must be in order Thumb>Middle Finger>Index Finger. After following through pause for at least a second with your index finger facing the middle part of the rim. If you used you're Pinky and Fourth fingers, will cause decrease of accuracy.
5. Don't know how to hold the ball? Hold the ball with the entire shooting hand except for the palm and for the guiding hand, you'll know where the guiding hand should be when you are ready to shoot.
6. Where should the foot be? If you're left-handed your left foot must face the middle of the rim and so as the right foot if you're right-handed and the other foot is facing away.
7. Where should you're forearm be? Your forearm must be straight and facing the middle of the rim.
8. Pushing the ball? First of all the principles of pushing is a lot different from shooting the basketball using the arm. In shooting a basketball, the arm must be bent like an L "literally", but if you want to create an angle use only the shoulders be sure not to ruin the L, simply adjust yourself, shoot and follow through! and be sure that the forearm is the only one that is snapping. In pushing a basketball, simply bend your arm like an L or V regardless of which you choose, Be sure to also create angle. Adjust yourself then shoot! and follow through and be sure that the elbow is the only one that is snapping. I guarantee you the ball will go directly to the ground.
How do I test this?
Find a long straight line, if you're left-handed step on it with you're left foot, also the same as a right-handed step on the line with you're right foot, make sure you're other foot is slightly away. Shoot straight, move out of the way and if the ball lands at the line then you got it, if it didn't the practice it until you get used to it and learn how to master it. As soon as you get used to it maybe this will explain my high FG%s.
