Hey guys, in almost winter time here in Australia and the courts are freezing! Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can keep my hands warm?
My hand turn blue from the cold and I cant control the ball at all.
I was thinking of wearing that clothing that players wear under their jersey. Like SKINS which we have here. Does anyone use this kind of stuff? Can it keep your body warm during training?
Thanks

I can't say I ever had that problem when I was playing, though I suppose it depends on whereabouts in Australia you are and what the facilities you're playing in are like. It still gets fairly cold here in Newcastle during Winter but not as much as it would further south.
Wearing a layer under your jersey definitely sounds like a good idea, even if it's a short sleeve t-shirt. Whenever you're on the bench, it's a good idea to put a t-shirt on over your jersey as well.

your hands are still gonna get cold. During the playtime you're gonna be SOL...but on the bench they sell gloves that you can put those handwarmer things in: might help

Some wristbands and thermals for your upper body should help. Whenever you are not playing, cross your arms and put them inbetween your armpits, or between your thighs if you are sitting down.
You can also just try to work up a sweat to get some adrenaline rushing and your heartbeat up which should make you warmer.
Hmm, this gives me an idea. I should invent a heated basketball.
Wow, you guys get winter in May?

Considering the different time zone, I'm sure they get summer, when we get winter.
But I don't know about L.A, it might never be winter there...

lol

, so in Japan there is winter right now also? It doesn´t have anything to do with time zones, since Australia is in south pole so they have different time winter comparing to countrys in north pole(well not every country gets winter)

Really?
Oh, your right.
Yeah, they have let's say, 8 hour difference. It's summer here, it's winter there! j/k.
Wrong answer for me.

EDIT: pole is not the right word, don´t know the word in english, but south of equtor/north of equator is more accurate

This made my day. The word you're looking for is "hemisphere", ratrac.
Also, every single spot on Earth gets all four seasons, since they're just a determinate period of time. The fact that in some places the weather in winter/summer/etc. is not winter/summer/etc.-like is a whole different story.
On topic, thermal tank tops and thighs should warm you up. Also, remember to put on a jacket or a sweatshirt every time you're not playing, especially if you're sweaty. If your hands get particularly cold, put on some gloves or just stick them down your crotch. It really helps.

Why don't you play indoors? That should solve the problem.

Stay warm by running doofus...
If you arent warm yet, keep running. Keep dribbling the ball to keep your hands warm. So long as you warm up properly you wont have a problem.
Dont sit on the computer all day before a game - it doesnt get your blood going so you will take longer to warm up.
Have a hot shower before the game if you insist on sitting around all day.
Aside from all that, run.

It's usually starting to get cold in May. Last year, Winter also seemed to extend into early September (at least around these parts) before it suddenly got warm, with a few Summer-like days in the middle of Spring.

True, but then he'd have to find a way to keep the rim from moving (and himself upright).
Tue May 27, 2008 7:26 am
it's not a problem!....I have been playing drunk, or still with alcohol in my blood, and I have to admit, even how sad it sounds, those were my best games with my best stats. Okey, the slam dunk contest was a disaster for me (I will never ever smoke pot and drink at the same night.) Anywhys, when I'm tipsy I get overhyped, and can't stop running, while I'm sober I'm lazy on the court. I even tested it, before each game, when i drank like one beer, I got like 20points, without one like 5points! Shit, I need some help, I'm fucking up my health and my career.....no wonder the big teams don't want to add me to the roster!.....
Tue May 27, 2008 7:45 am
Hey, you sound just like me... only I don't play basketball anymore.

Who do you think you are, you're no Joakim Noah.
You might also have an alcohol problem by thinking that you need alcohol just to perform well.

Dude, the pot....i can't remember where it come from that night!....Anywhys I don't have a fucking alcohol problem, I still could be one of the scoring leaders, but I put education over basketball!....Ever since my grades went up, so did my stress, and the fastest and easest way how to get rid of it is a bottle of beer!.....i call it a enerydrink!

Thinking that alcohol is a stress/problem reliever might also be a sign of potential alcoholism.

your a potential of idiotism!....honestly, and don't get mad, it will be pointless!....

Now you're angry, you need a shot of wonder juice to calm down.
Oh wait, I was trying to prevent you from doing that. What the hell, bottoms up?

Look who's talking!...it's Dr. Phill
the all knowing psychologist!....he can write all the answers to your problems in a fucking video forum!...isn't he the greatest!....
I told you = Pointless!
Tue May 27, 2008 8:13 am
I doubt Dr. Phil is "all knowing". I doubt if he's even a psychologist, I'm too lazy to confirm.
I don't write to the forums, I type.
"I told you = Pointless!"
Yes you're right, what you told to me is equal to pointless.

Very smart!....corrected my 3rd language mistakes!...and even responded with a repartee!...
Anywhys.....don't mind me!...It is pointless to argue on a forum!...even how hard we disagree!....
Tue May 27, 2008 8:32 am
lol I'm not disagreeing or agreeing with you, I'm not even out to get you. I was just messing with you even from the beginning. I had no idea you'll go a bit ballistic, apologies.
I was also hoping to add that your misplaced anger might also be a sign of alcoholism because you haven't had a shot yet, just so you know.
