I still don't get how the Heat deserve to miss out on a top three pick simply because they tanked. Someone's got to have the worst record in the league and they were destined for that dubious honour long before they began resting regular starters who were nursing injuries anyway.

Tue May 20, 2008 9:52 pm

yeah the tanking this is over blown imo, anyone can tank if they want to.

Tue May 20, 2008 10:10 pm

It's an ugly process but if a team is comfortable with not trying their hardest and running the risk of being sorely disappointed in the lottery while alienating fans along the way, so be it. It kind of goes against the competitive spirit but at some point, a team eliminated from playoff contention can't be blamed for raising the white flag. I don't advocate tanking per se but it's not as though teams like the Heat have spent a full 82 game season looking for ways to intentionally lose as many games as possible.

It's kind a cool. It's on my birthday, which is today ! :)

Tue May 20, 2008 11:24 pm

Happy birthday.

Is the lottery earlier this year than it usually is?

Wed May 21, 2008 12:09 am

It's earlier than last year, but only by a few days.

Wed May 21, 2008 12:20 am

I could have sworn it was the first week in June. AKA, my birthday. Not Oskar's, dammit.

Wed May 21, 2008 1:19 am

Hey, thanks ! :) But yeah, I hope Seattle gets the first pick, because I kind a like them moving and rebuilding and everything, that's why :). I also would like Beasley go to Miami.

I also wish D'Antoni can get someone good and surprise everyone getting rid of the bads.

Wed May 21, 2008 2:35 am

God, I hope Oklahoma City doesn't get the top pick, nor does Miami. Go Minnesota!

one thing i always actually agreed with is playing mostly the young guys when its clear you are not going anywhere. i understand if you have a superstar the fans want to see him play but why not get your young players on the court against the top talent(teams fighting for playoff position) and see what they are really made of? sure its tanking, but why fight to get a worse pick? if you cant make the playoffs seriously why fight only to end with a worse pick?

Here's the result for picks 14-4:

14. Golden State
13. Portland
12. Sacramento
11. Indiana
10. New Jersey
9. Charlotte
8. Milwaukee
7. LA Clippers
6. New York
5. Memphis
4. Seattle

Wow, shocking. Chicago has a chance for a top 3 pick! :O

Especially with your participation.

Good news for Bulls fans. Good news for Heat haterz.

Not really. The number 2 pick is still a good outcome for Miami.

Lol, I said it as a figure of speech since Chicago's odds were so low.

Wed May 21, 2008 10:34 am

Yes, which makes the coincidence interesting. I was just pointing out someone did guess it right.

Wed May 21, 2008 10:37 am

Besides the #1 and #12 pick, the rest of his picks were pretty much off ;)
Anyway, I see Chicago drafting Rose. They wanted him to begin with, and now they will.
It's really dumb if they draft Beasley because they're loaded with forwards.
Rose and Hinrich would make one deadly point guard duo.

Wed May 21, 2008 10:39 am

Luol Deng is a free agent, Derrick Rose is a Point Guard. Beasley to Bulls methinks.

Wed May 21, 2008 10:43 am

ZOMG YEH 2 EAST TEAMS PICKING TOP 2 SICK OF THE WEST DAMN.

PARTY BABY!

Wed May 21, 2008 11:05 am

I see the Bulls blowing up (in a sense) the roster now that they have the #1
Hinrich - Gone
Deng - Gone
Gordon - 50/50

Larry - Definitely staying. Lol

Wed May 21, 2008 11:13 am

Poor Memphis they never have luck with the lottery.
Maybe Chicago will draft Rose and them trade him for someone they really need, since a many teams don't have a good pure point guard.

Wed May 21, 2008 11:32 am

Man, Chicago has been stacked with high draft picks the last several years. It's really disappointing to see them get another one, as there's other teams really deserving to get the top 2 projected players.
