DALLAS - The Los Angeles Lakers looked to be in solid shape, leading the Dallas Mavericks 66-63 entering the fourth quarter, winning the middle periods after a struggling start.

Then, Jason Kidd and "Big D" burned them.

He scored 12 of his 36 points in the final frame, including a wild layup during an 8-0 run which put the game away for a 104-95 home win over the sliding Los Angeles Lakers.

Kidd also dished out 6 assists.

Erick Dampier, who called himself "Big D" after this game, scored only 2 points, but pulled down 8 rebounds and blocked 8 shots.

Lamar Odom had a monster game with 30 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks in a losing effort, showing no ill-effects of his injury. Pau Gasol scored 17 and Andrew Bynum scored 15. Monta Ellis, slowed by a bruised elbow, only scored 4 points.

Jason Terry and Josh Howard each scored 15 points and were part of run which broke the game open.

It was tied at 69-69 before Jason Terry gave the Mavericks the lead with 6:51 left and then scored again to extend it to four. Kidd's wild layup and Josh Howard's jumper extended the lead to eight, 77-69.

Odom scored on two quick baskets cut the lead in half, but Dirk Nowitzki, who was struggling throughout the game, scored on putback to stop the run and his block on Odom on the next possesion led to Kidd hitting a shot which put it back to eight.

After Pau Gasol scored on a three-pointer from Luke Walton with 4:10 left that cut the lead to 81-76, Kidd once again iced the game and extended the lead to ten.

Los Angeles would pose no serious threat after that.

Dirk Nowitzki mustered only 6 points, but his teammates made up for it.

LA is now 1-2 since Kobe Bryant's injury.

Whoa... a 3 pointer from Pau...that was very rare to see.

In my dynasty, Bynum also have 1 three pointer in one of the seasons.

Hope Kobe will come back ASAP!

LAKERS REPORT
SHOOTING CRISIS

EL SEGUNDO - The Lakers are now vulnerable. With Monta Ellis slowed by injury, the shooting guard spot is now the Lakers' weakest point.

After scoring 13 points and dishing out 4 assists in his first game as a Laker, Ellis has averaged 2.0 points and 2.0 assists in his last two games.

Backing him up is no easy task either. In their last two games, Coby Karl has averaged 1.5 points and 2.0 rebounds, while Ira Newble can only muster 4.0 points and 1 rebound.

This trade isn't a bust trade yet, since it just so happened Ellis got injured, and things may get better once he's healed.

But until that time, LA should look out.

So who is playing most minutes at SG right now? It´s pretty tough having both Kobe and Ellis injured, hopefully they heal quickly and get back on track

GASOL'S MONSTER GAME, ELLIS' THREE LEAD LAKERS TO WIN OVER WARRIORS

Image
Pau Gasol led LA to a huge win.

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors clashed for the first time since the five-player deal that was completed last month. At first it looked like LA would be on the losing end of it as Monta Ellis suffered an injury which limited him in the past two games, both Laker losses.

However, he came alive to score 17 points against his former mates despite still nursing the injury to aid Pau Gasol's monster game of 28 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks to help LA emerge victorious in a 111-110 thriller, snapping a two-game losing streak.

It was a tight game throughout, and it wasn't until Ellis' three-pointer with 1:01 remaining which put the Lakers up by five, 108-103 that the outcome was decided.

Kelena Azubuike hit a triple which cut it down to 109-108, but Derek Fisher's two freebies with 5.5 seconds left sealed the game. Al Harrington scored on a tip-in to set the final score.

Baron Davis led Golden State with 29 points, scoring 20 in the first half. But in the second half, Trevor Ariza's length limited his production.

Fisher had 14 points and 5 assists.

Both teams were hot from the field, with Los Angeles shooting 60.3% and the Warriors going off for 51.1%. Los Angeles also cut down on their three-point attempts, hitting 5-of-15. Golden State shot 9-for-23 from distance.

The biggest discrepancy was in the rebounding department as LA dominated, 43-21.

You got a good dynasty going on bro. Keep it up!
Oh, IMO you should play Ellis as a two-guard since Kobe will likely get all the minutes when he comes back. ;)
