NBA Lottery 2008

Fri May 09, 2008 5:19 pm

So, correct me if Im wrong but 12 days to go right zir?

Anyways I really want Memphis to win it and pick beasley, imagine:

F.A / Beasley / Gay / Miller / Conley then have Navarro off the bench, just tank for one more season and pull a boston, nothing ain impossible,

While in Seattle (or Oklahoma I guess) Durant I think wants Beasley? (close friend) I see Rose as a good fit better IMHO.

In Miami, they tanked, they faked injuries, coch went scouting, but even if they deserve not to have a top1, I think it will be good if they. Any other team in the lottery other than MIami cant pull a boston, if Miami perhaps drafts 2nd, they can get Rose, or Beasley, you see:

FA/Haslem/Marion/Wade/Rose some free agents, then bang, theyre back, pull a boston maybe for dirk, a doreel-wright-udonis haslem-shawn marion deal for him, I think Miami has the best chance to turn around.

Minny?? it's like 8/15 years, theyre in the lottery, theyll pick rose,

Al/Rose/hmmm????

It's a blur.

New York Knicks??? they can use beasley, and moce randolph, or use rose. and move starbury,

How bout the bucks???

I think theyre the most talented NON-PLAYOFF TEAM this year, cmmon

Yi/CharlieV/Bogut/Redd/Mo williams/Sessions/Bell+ a top 3 pick, might battle for the 8th spot! Plus they have scott skiles!

Anyways last for the bulls, Deng/Gordon (hopefulley)/ Hinrich/Gooden/Sefolosha/hughes+ maybe beasley, but as I see, they want rose...

I see the top 4 winding this way:

1. Memphis
2. Miami
3. Seattle
4. Minny

For some reason I can see the Sonics winning the lottery....don't know why....and Heat dropping to 4th 8-)

I also agree that Rose seems like a better fit for Sonics than Beasley, especially since they already have Green & Durant as frontcourt of future....but Beasley might be too much of a stud to pass on....interesting draft either way....

I hope Miami winds up with something like the 14th pick overall. Tanking is just shameful to the entire sports of basketball. To me it does not differ much from point shaving. As for Beasley I'd like to see him in Sacramento. I think it might ruin his career if he ends up in a team with near zero veteran leadership. Seeing who pro scouts seem to think he might have a problem with his work ethics. As for Derrick Rose, I'd like to see him in Minnesota. With a few bad contracts coming off the books, the Wolves could be something else.

How the heck Miami can end up with 14th pick, worst pick they could get is 4th.

Sat May 10, 2008 3:15 am

its funny how you keep saying pulled a boston, when other teams also tanked just as bad, and btw it was the trades that helped boston this year not the tank. if you remember they didnt come out of the lottery very well.

Sat May 10, 2008 4:52 am

I hope Miami gets the worst pick too heheh :D

The Sonics will get the 1st

Sat May 10, 2008 11:24 am

That post made my head hurt. How are you going to try and predict what order they will pick when it is a random process?

I think I'm going to go pull a Boston, just because that idea is so deep in my brain after reading that post. Even though I have no idea what it means.

Memphis and Grizzlies are the same team, Golden State can´t be 5th, but he can be 1-3, Sonics can´t be 8, max 5th. If top 3 would be Bulls, Minnesota and Miami, then it will go like this after:
4.Sonics
5.Memphis
6.NY or Clippers(don´t know how they choose, if they have same record)
7.NY or Clippers
8.Milwaukee
9.Charlotte
10.New Jersey
11.Indiana
12.Sacramento
13.Portland
14.Golden State

^I don't get it.

This thread is completely pointless in my opinion since it all depends on some ping-pong balls.

I don't find tanking glamarous by any stretch of the imagination but I have to disagree here. Point shaving for the purpose of betting is illegal; simply not trying your best and losing a lot of games is not. To equate the two practices is to suggest that teams that tank are engaging in strategy to lose beyond simply resting key players and failing to give 100%, instead actively trying to lose the game. There's a difference between trying to lose and not trying very hard to win. Tanking teams place themselves at a handicap but I doubt once it comes time to play the games, they're planning on how to lose.

I hope the Heat win so they could start fresh with a great rookie. Like Beasley or Rose..

Whats with newer members ending posts with three dots...?

This is a pretty dumb topic, predicting what happens in a random process. Go Portland!

Draft Zachary Feinstein!

Milwaukee will win #1 pick again!

Sun May 18, 2008 6:30 am

For some reason, I have a gut feeling Seattle will win it all.
Here are my late top 3 predictions:

1. Seattle - Derrick Rose
This is a really risky prediction, since the last guard selected at #1 was Allen Iverson in 1994.
Due to my strange gut feeling, the bottom line is Seattle needs a good point guard who will also get defenders off Durant's back.

2. Minnesota - Michael Beasley
I have Minnesota at this spot as a sign of a new hope for the Timberwolves.
Rose and Beasley are this year's Oden and Durant, so whoever goes first, the #2 will be one or the other.
They lack a great forward, and Minny won't pass on Beasley's talent.

3. Miami - OJ Mayo
You see when teams tank, the lottery usually doesn't work in their favor. But even with the top two guys gone, Miami still has a wide variety of options left.
Mayo will probably be next, replacing Jason Williams in the starting position and will help form a great backcourt with D-Wade for years to come.

Man, now I'm guessing they'll get to get another aussie into the league? Hopefully NOT! (I'd hate to see aijordan88's prediction on Nathan Jawai becoming true.)

Tue May 20, 2008 5:45 pm

Is there something wrong with getting Aussies into the NBA?

Tue May 20, 2008 9:06 pm

It's not as though the Bucks have made it their mission either. They've drafted a grand total of one Australian player and even he played NCAA ball rather than coming out of the NBL. Whether or not a player can be considered worthy of being selected with a certain pick depends on his abilities, not his nationality.

That said, I don't think Jawai will be a lottery pick.

Tue May 20, 2008 9:36 pm

I'm picking a lottery win for the T'wolves, with my darkhorse being none other than the LA Clippers....and I'm hoping the Heat slide to 4th spot 8-)
