ticker shows injuries, transactions, etc.. during games bug?

I noticed the first time i started a franchise i didn't get the ticker during games, then when i started a "season" it did come up during games. Now, i started a new season and it's gone again.
Is this a bug? has anyone else noticed the ticker durign games? it comes up at the bottom of the screen like it does at the season options screen.
i thought it was actually kinda cool, but also sort of a distraction. i haven't noticed an option to turn it on or off. btw, this is the ps2 version.

It pops up for me in a Dynasty I have with a friend of mine, but come to think of it, it doesn't pop up in my own solo season.

I too get distracted by the ticker, I will be reading the ticker then we will get scored on. lol. It's my fault though, it's not like the ticker is blocking anything important.
