Andrew wrote:Agreed, especially since it will be difficult for me to catch the games this weekend since I'll be out of town and while my brother has Foxtel, it's obviously not my call to watch whatever I want. Maybe one of these days I'll invest in the IQ.

I was thinking the same thing, I just couldn't stomach the $15/month.

For me it's either one of 4 options with Foxtel:
1) Get rid of it - $0 per month (but increased beer expenditure at pubs)
2) Keep my current package (Basics + Sports) - $57 per month
3) Keep my current package (Basics + Sports) & add IQ - $72 per month
4) Keep my current package (Basics + Sports) & add History Channels package (wife would love that) - $74per month
5) Keep my current package (Basics + Sports) & add History Channels package & IQ - $89 per month

In the end, we'll probably stay with option 2, & I'll suspend the account for $5/month in the NBA offseasons (starting after NBA Draft). IQ would be nice, but with work, home & study responsibilities, I unfortunately don't think I'd ever get around to watching all the games I would record.

I'm guessing for you, with comedy channels & all that, you're probably already spending at minimum $72 per month, maybe $89 per month if you also have all the music channels or movie channels. An extra $15 can be a bit hard to stomach when you're already paying that amount.

I guess main thing is make sure you're home in time for Sportscenter each day :D

Yeah, I'm paying over $80 a month with the package I'm on so I'm not in any rush to get the IQ at this point...maybe sometime in the future. It's not so bad if I can't watch games live, I've always got the replays and if I feel like it, I can always put in a four hour tape on long play and record the live broadcast. I won't be able to do that tomorrow though since I'm flying up to Queensland this afternoon and my VCR doesn't allow me to set a recording schedule that includes the AV input (which is how I've got my Foxtel rigged up).

I remember having a TV that wouldnt let me hook up the VCR for a while.....that was torture....i only got to see 2 of 4 games per week and I had to wake up real early for them.

Anyways, the coverage has been very poor to say the least as far as games go, and having to watch Boston rape Atlanta won't be fun.

Sat Apr 26, 2008 2:04 pm

Coverage has been great. No pistons games.

I'd like to see the Hornets and Lakers series' though, as well as the Spurs. Those 3 are fantastic - much better than any of the crap out East.

While I'm in a fuming mood, WHAT THE FUCK is the point of the Strongest Man Minutes? Seriously... NO ONE GIVES A SHIT. If they dont at least have adds to advertise something on TV, with a point, why the fuck do they bother? Just show the god dam American ads - at least those are funny.
I hate australian tv.

Only one game currently listed for this week, a Game 6 (if necessary) of an unnamed series.

And the only game 6 i can think of is Detroit v Philadelphia

Tue Apr 29, 2008 9:32 am

The dates don't match up for Game 6 of the Pistons/Sixers series. The following series will have a Game 6 played on May 2nd (May 3rd here) if necessary: Lakers/Nuggets, Rockets/Jazz, Celtics/Hawks, Cavaliers/Wizards. There aren't any times listed for those potential games as yet so it could be any one of them if they go that far.

 WOW You can watch games every day.
Here, in South America it's a little bit more difficult

A little bit? I still remember when we got 2 or 3 games per week, and in the playoffs it was even better. Now we barely get 1 shitty game.

Not every day. There's four games a week during the regular season and at least one per week, usually two, during the Playoffs (putting aside other means of watching games).

The online guide has been updated, this Saturday's game will be Game 6 of the Celtics/Hawks series @ 10:00 AM.

Sun May 04, 2008 3:59 pm

The next two games are this coming Saturday and Sunday. Looking at the schedule, it seems likely that Satuday will be Lakers/Jazz Game 3 and Sunday will be either Cavs/Celtics or Cavs/Hawks Game 3, or Pistons/Magic Game 4. The online guide lists Sunday's game as a Game 3 so perhaps the series with the Cavs is more likely.

I was disappointed there was no game on today. I think my decision is made, I'm going to have to flick Foxtel after the NBA Draft (gotta have the Annual Draft party of course :). Regular season coverage is good, but it shouldn't go backwards when playoffs start. There was only one game the whole last week. Disgraceful. I do watch other stuff on Foxtel, but it's mainly for basketball coverage, but it's pretty disappointing. I figure my $57 per month is better spent on my mortgage rather than paying for Scrabble, Poker & One Minute Strongest Men commercials.

Only thing I'm not sure of is if my 2 year contract is up. I think it might not be for another half a year, so if that's the case, I'll have it for a little while longer until then.

After that though, I guess I'll be hunting for games shown online (N)

Mon May 05, 2008 10:42 am

I don't blame you, though I'm in no rush to get rid of Foxtel myself. The playoff coverage has been awful again though, two games a week would be bearable but limiting them to the weekends thus far has missed out on some of the more exciting games so far, like Game 1 of the Suns/Spurs series. Fox Sports really needs to join in the Playoff coverage.

Fri May 09, 2008 1:17 pm

Lakers/Jazz Game 3 tomorrow @ 11:00 AM AEST, with the KIA Shootaround starting at 10:00 AM. Sunday's game will be Game 3 of the Celtics/Cavs series, tipping off at 10:00 AM.

Mon May 12, 2008 1:26 pm

Just to shake things up, the online guide is currently listing a Game 6 doubleheader (if necessary) this Saturday but no games on Sunday. The tentative schedule suggests that Celtics/Cavs and Lakers/Jazz will once again be featured.

Yeah it's the Celts vs Cavs (unfortunately) and I wanna watch the Hornets v Spurs, which i think would be on Sunday if it went to 7...

Wed May 14, 2008 8:06 pm

If Hornets/Spurs goes to seven then that game will be played on the 19th. There aren't any games scheduled on Saturday (US time) which is obviously why we've got the Friday doubleheader as our two games this week.

Fri May 16, 2008 4:38 pm

On line guide shows just the Lakers v Jazz game

Sat May 17, 2008 12:04 pm

Celtics/Cavs was dropped in favour of a baseball game and an episode of everyone's favourite, World's Strongest Man.

Sat May 17, 2008 12:18 pm

Celtics/ Cavs was dropped for Lakers/ Jazz, not for worlds strongest man. ESPN international has an agreement for X amount of games. Otherwise they'd show every single one of them.

Sat May 17, 2008 4:26 pm

Can we expect one of the upcoming game sevens i wonder.

Sat May 17, 2008 5:53 pm

I'd love to see the Spurs and Hornets game, but I doubt we'll get it. Thank god for channel BT

Sun May 18, 2008 4:25 am

online guide shows we get BOTH Conference Finals series :D
