It's been a week since Grizzlies found out about bad news, landing on 4th overall pick. Iavaroni and West tried out at least a dozen of young players in past two weeks...


"Alright guys, take a five" said Iavaroni when he saw that West has came to the gym.

" So let's see what options do we have...Milwaukee will select C. da Silva, New Orleans is focusing on E. Gill so I guess they'll be picking him. "

" Please, don't Jerry. My head is tottaly filled with rookies and at the moment I can't think anything than about rookies, we'll deal with them after the draft" said Iavaroni.
" Alright Marc, no worries " said West with smile while pating Iavaroni on shoulders.

It's official! The NBA 2008 Draft is finished. It was no surprise when Milwaukee revealed their no. 1 pick - C. da Silva - a young power forward centered player who won the European basketball league with Barcelona in 07/08 season. No. 2 pick was E. Gill selected by New Orleans. A 22 years old player from Colorado. Maybee the only "Iverson" type of a player after Iverson. He sure has speed, but can he shoot? We'll see in upcomming season. No. 3 pick was N. Medina selected by Philadelphia - a strong power forward from Uruguay. No. 4 pick was H. Scot selected by Memphis. For some surprising for some not, as he was one of the best rated rookies. It will be very interesting to see how much of an improvement will teams actually get with new talented rookies. It is a great season infront of us.

An interesting question...well I was playing with him for a while and he's a great player who can score in volume. Very fast, always among the fastest on the fastbrake. He'll start, no doubt but afcourse I'll try to play as realistic as possible with him - meaning I won't be scoring 40 or 50 points with him...

The hunt for free-agents has begun

Two days ago teams were picking the newest prospects of today's basketball. Today it is time for players who are already known to them. It's free agency time. Lots of big contracts has expired this year, for instance A. Jamison, E. Okafor, L. Deng etc,.. The team which can offer the most money to the players are Grizzlies. Who are they targeting is still a mystery. Almost all teams are already negotiating with their players whom contracts has expired. Cavaliers have almost a lock with Gibson for re-signing. Also Denver with J.R. Smith and Minnesota with A. Jefferson. Grizzlies mentioned about bringing someone to help out M. Miller on shooting guard position. Are they targeting explosive M. Ellis to spark their fastbrake actions? They will also need a backup power forward as they announced not re-signing with C. Smith. On all of those questions we will soon get an answers.

After couple of days negotiating with Gordon, who was split between Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies, he just couldn't resist Grizzlies' offer. A whooping 52.55 million dollars that will Gordon receive in 5 years playing for Grizzlies. Almost every free-agent star that was on the market has re-signed with their original team. Only R. Davis, B. Gordon, Paul Millsap and J. Childress didn't want to re-sing. At the same time Grizzlies also announced that they have signed with Paul Millsap for 5 years. Millsap will receive 39.25 million dollars in that period of time with Grizzlies. Nice job, you got a really shining young team. Though, I would trade Mike Miller for two guys, like with ovrl around 65-68 to be benched under Gordon and Conley, you would be able to give all your high rated guys good minutes then.. But hey, I almost forgot the inactive list.. Hehe, but yeah, your bench is filled of good players like.. Miller, the 2nd round rookie, someone else ? But it might be good, because if someone gets injuried, it doesn't affect your team at all because everyone has a right hand and a good replacement.
