would directx10 for xp with live 2008 work?

It wouldn't add anything if it did work. I don't even know if Live is coded to use DX9.

i've tried the directx 10 and there does seem to be some difference. my card is a bit old so it doesn't look like a huge leap, but quite a few games look much better than before and run smoother with higher settings where they would lag a bit before. if anyone tries it would you be kind enough to post what card you have and what changes you noticed? thanks

If your card is older, how do you know it is even a DX10 card?

it's an ati 9200se so it definitely isn't, and as benji said there shouldn't really be any effect but after going through a few games i did notice a difference, and from some of the info i read on it's a hack to make dx10 features available on xp and without a dx10 capable card.

if you search for dx10 for xp you should be able to find some more info to explain it better than i could, actually i was hoping someone with tech knowledge would check it out and see if it really works or if i'm just getting some slight cosmetic improvements.
