I just gotta say that I am  actually the best Shaq defender is Martin from NLSC Forum:P j/k I think Eddy Curry is the best Shaq defender by Shaq's performance against the bulls last season (yeah I know what Shaq said about it but still)

K08e4mvp,why do you say everything I wanna say :?:
Mutombo played greatly against him but he was more scared with everygame that went on...1st game the Sixers won but Mutombo got mad shit to his face from Shaq...2nd game the Sixers lost and Mutombo had to stich his tongue(I guess that it ain't good to play with threads in your mouth) I mean that he fight greatly everygame but he got just 2-3 punches in the face from Shaq(every game)!
But Drama your right Mutombo did a great job on Shaq in 2001 but it wasnt enough!I gotta say that Mutombo was the best Shaq defender in 2001.(There should be "The best Shaq-stopper" award, imo  )

Ps.I know how to stop Shaq(2 options):
1st Do not let him to get the ball
2nd and way easier than the first one:Just take your shotgun with you if you play against him :o

if Duncan plays C, he could probably give shaq the best challenge because Shaq will have to do defense vs. Duncan in the low post.

I hope I don't go against the stats, but I think Rasheed Wallace does a decent job against him... but I think that the intimidation factor that Sheed has does play a role in that.

Without a doubt, Karl Malone. He has the size and strength to keep Shaq from getting good position. More importantly, he has the respect of the referees so he doesn't pick up cheap fouls when guarding Shaq. Only problem is that Shaq can shoot over Malone because of the height difference but I'd rather have Shaq shoot jump hooks from eight or nine feet out instead of dunking, laying it time or getting to the line against me. Honorable mention goes to Aryvidas Sabonis.

Hakeem Olajuwon and David Robinson get my vote.

Fri Oct 24, 2003 1:08 pm

Tim Duncan

Fri Oct 24, 2003 1:18 pm

i think rodman was the most effective on shaq.

currently- o(gre)stertag does a decent job when he's not getting himself thrown out.

honorable mention goes to eddy curry. i'm guessing shaq has circled the games scheduled vs. the bulls. too bad the teams face each other only twice

Amphatoast, Shaq did play D on TD in the last game of the playoffs and TD killed him with his speed!

I'm a big time Malone fan but, dude, how often does Malone guard Shaq? REALLY...Oysterfag is pretty much the only guy the Jazz have really used on Shaq for extended period of time.
In Shaq's earlier years, Hakeem took Shaq to school as witnessed in the finals. Right now, there isn't one single play that can stop Shaq. Now of TimmyD played more C instead of pretending to be an overgrown PF, THEN I would say there may be a possibility that those too would be a lot of fun to watch.
As for Yao, as much as I love the guy's talents and determination, he's still a few years away from topping Shaq. But his 29pts in 28 min in preseason is definitively a glimpse of things to come.
Ah, Vlade? No...he just flops all over the floor in order to get offensive calls again shaq. That's not defense, its acting.

I know the Jazz used 'Tag on SHaq for most of the game but many times during the 4th quarter Malone would switch over to Shaq and do the best job defending him since Dream destroyed Shaq (and every other center) in 1995.

So according to you, Mutumbo could guard him in the regular season, but not in the finals, right?

Too good. (Y)

Wonder why Mutumbo could guard him in the regular season, but couldnt guard him in the playoffs...strange eh? Care to explain that?
