Question about savedata transfer

I recently bought a 360 and I'ma get 2k8 the next days.
Now with the default roster being quite outdated, I downloaded a pretty accurate roster from OS, now here my question (more xbox 360 related than 2k8).
Do I have to have a 360 transfer kit along with a memory unit, or are there any other possibilities to get my update from the pc to my 360?

Would be nice if somebody can provide some information.

I use Xport, it uses the HDD.
