Knicks Dynasty (SCREENSHOTS RESIZED TO SMALLER RESOLUTION..)

Okay, first of all, the aim of this dynasty :
To clear cap space, turn the Knicks into a contender again and, ultimately, to one day win the NBA championship.

Now, as you'll notice, I try to play as realistically as possible, this has it's effects on gameplay AND trades, so no crazy things.
I won't say all the trades I made/will make are likely to happen, but here you won't see any 'one average player and a scrub for a good player' trade or 'two average player for one superstar' trades. I'm sure every regular Nba live player knows what I'm talking about.
I started the season with some trades, essentially to get players with expiring contracts so next season I'll have (a lot) of cap space, exactly what the Knicks are missing right now.

Anyway... I already have some images, I'll start my story tomorrow or the day after.

It will be pretty straightforward : screens, results, stats and some explanation. But no story-like dynasty, just a season of 82 games where I intend to play all of them (expect vs. T-Wolves, they keep crashing so I'll simulate those games).

My roster, I think, still is Andrew's converted roster, I have all the art from different sgsm's (JohnTheFon etc...), correct shoes, and I opened every single player with the ingame editor so all ratings are level (and thus comparable).
I play 10 min. quarters, 12 min. sim => for me this gives best results in terms of stats (which is very important to me). And last but not least, I play on superstar level.

Now, as I said, I'll start soon enough, one more question though : what is the best site to upload my screens ?

Okay, so here we go...
First of all, I'll give you the roster I started the dynasty with :



So.. What I wanted to concentrate on was
a) have SOME quality left and more important
b) clear up cap space for next season

So the trades I made are







I think these trades are quite realistic, I even didn't really get as much quality as I sent to the other teams. But, for one, I'm glad I got rid of Marbury...
I traded for Williams because I needed a starting point guard badly, Curry's contract runs for 4 years still ànd he is rather overrated.
Randolph... Well, it's a salary thing. Plus, he's not my kinda player anyways.
Van Horn is an other matter. I don't think I will be playing him at all, as I want to keep it as realistic as possible. I just pulled of what New Jersey did in real life. They don't plan on playing Van Horn, so neither do I and I thought it was a cool idea to do this in NBA live too.

So this leaves me with this roster



Im currently planning no further changes, and as an additional bonus (and the thing I wanted the most), check out what comes off the books come next season...



So this is my upcoming schedule (you'll notice that I simmed the T-Wolves game as it always crashes, hope they don't get to the finals say for the next 25 years )



The Celtics game I played before deciding to do a dynasty story, something I had been planning to do for a very long time already but never started because of my girlfriend, work, basketball practice etc...
So sometimes I might not post for a few days, but hang in there.. It will be worth the wait (I hope)...

Yeah I know, but I switch around a lot. For example, Jamison can play the 3 position also, so I switch Posey to SG. Right now I'm playing a game and I have no problems at SG. I use Fred Jones, and even Nate Robinson due to his quickness and jumping ability. And against bigger, stronger guards à la T-Mac, I can use Posey, who is also big and a great defender... Of course next season I will be on the lookout for a better SG. But for this season, I think this roster will do.

Just a little question, what background do you use and where did you got it?

EDIT: Another question about the dynasty, are you using current salary cap(this season´s) or original?

Not bad. It'd be better to get more young talent though..
You could've gotten way more from your original starting 5.
Guys like Dwight Howard, Deron Williams, Chris Paul and Andre Iguodala could really help you in the long run and they're really cheap.

Yeah, that may be true (well, it IS true) but as I said, I don't want to exaggerate with the trades, want to keep it a little realistic. And anyways, I really like the challenge.
I'll see what this team can bring, Jamison is my go-to guy and I have a few very good role players that can play some D and rebound the ball, as well as some quick ball handlers.

Besides, I like the fact that I don't really have any outspoken superstar (à la Kobe, Lebron etc..).
Jamison is good, but modest. That, I like.
On the other hand, my team doés need a real leader.

But thanks for all the feedback, I love the fact that my dynasty is being followed by at least a few people. I have been quite busy, but this weekend I'll post my first game report, Knicks vs Celtics...

I'm liking the feasible trades. With the fact that I don't think that one team has made so many salary-cutting moves in such a short period of time, the trades are not totally realistic, but I like the fairness of getting mediocre (expiring) players for your good, but overpaid guys. I remember doing a dynasty with the Knicks in 2K7 and it was pretty fun. My salary got to about $10 million by the third year.

Will be watching this one. Should be an entertaining read.

2 Games were played this weekend. It was still unclear if this New York team would even be capable to contend with other mid-level teams.
First up was a visit from the Sixers.
A team with a rich history, but a rebuilding franchise, much like this young and inexperienced Knicks team, analysts thought this might prove a close battle...





The Knicks' GM made it clear that, while their team was still 'under construction', they already had one go-to-guy in Antawn Jamison and that he very well might prove the quiet but effective leader they were looking for and this was no idle hope, as Jamison already piled up MVP-like stats by the end of the third quarter: 23 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and two blocked shot



Jamison did not only lead the charge, he also took the charge

Then, an ugly twist of fate turned the game around...


A bad foul by Samuel Dalembert causes Jamison to leave the court

Jamison would not return to action and was later diagnosed with a dislocated finger, forcing him to miss at least 9 games.
A severe blow for the already star-starving NY Knicks team.

The game then went on and turned into a close, but ugly game. Not much can be said about the rest of the game, unless the fact that Philly notched their second win of the season, largely due to the strong play of Iguodala, and of course the second-half absence of Antawn Jamison... The Knicks held on until late in the fourt, but a great clutch play by again André Iguodala in the form of a trey and the foul shot that followed sealed the win as Philly went on to win this one, 94-90.






Btw guys, thanks for all the comments and criticism, everything is greatly appreciated. I'll continue to work hard on form and style. This was a brief report, due to the fact that I played the game 2 days ago and didn't take much screenshots..
Next up are the Clippers, a game I already played ànd I wrote down the most significant events as the game progressed, so look forward to a more in-depth report...
I'll also make the screenshots smaller.

PS : as for the background, I don't know. I update NBA Live regularly but really can't recall which patches I have installed. I've anybody recognises his/her work, he/she can claim credit for that piece of art

Today, in a quick response to the Antawn Jamison injury, and in search of some experience and some backup for the SF position, NY announced the signing of two free agents :

MARCUS WILLIAMS



The Spurs drafted the 6-foot-7 Williams, who played two years at Arizona, with the 33rd overall pick in the draft in June. Williams participated in the Spurs' training camp and was waived in late October.

He played nine games this season with the Austin Toros, the Spurs' affiliate team in the NBA Development League, where he averaged 18.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists.

The Knicks signed him primarily as a 3rd or even 4th option at the SF position. It is expected that he will receive limited playing time.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.


MAURICE TAYLOR



Taylor is a big, semi-athletic and has a decent mid-range shooting touch. After starting his NBA career in a promising fashion, his numbers have slipped, and he has developed a reputation for being an underachiever. He averaged 17 points per game and 6.5 rebounds in the 1999-2000 NBA season, but recently has been involved in a number of off-court troubles, and was suspended by his last team, the Sacramento Kings, in 2007, for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
Still, the Knicks look to Taylor for talent and experience and Taylor himself hopes to pick up the pace and revive his NBA career.

Next up for the injury-plagued Knicks is a young Clippers team, burning with ambition.

Although the Clippers have some very talented individual players (Cassell, Maggette, Brand) and even an considerable inside force (Kaman), the Knicks started out good, with an early lead, 19-15 with 3:29 left in the first quarter.
In this first quarter, Marcus Williams made his debut for the Knicks at SG, replacing James Posey with 2:00 left.

Then, with 1:36 left in the first quarter, Maurice Taylor subbed in for David Lee at the PF position and he immediately made an impact on the game.

He scored 14 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist on 4/6 shooting (and 6/6 freethrows) in 8 minutes, before being subbed out with 4:15 left in the second. During this scoring spree he also forced Elton Brand in foul trouble with his surprisingly strong drives to the basket.


Taylor sees the double coming and kicks it out to Nachbar for the easy 2


Lee forced Brand's 3rd after Taylor already provoked 2 early fouls


At the end of the 2nd quarter, Corey Maggette seems to promise Aaron Williams to take over (and he did).

At half time, Lee and Taylor had taken over Jamison's work in a combined effort. Lee had a great game, with 13 points and 12 rebounds at the half already, including 5 (!) offensive boards.
The Clippers received a great effort from Sam Cassell.


Through the entire 3rd quarter, the game went back and forth, and Corey Maggette took the stage.

Maggette stepped up in the second half. Here he strips Nachbar.

Jason Williams was a letdown through the first 3 periods and halfway through the third he had scored only 12 points on 4/12 shooting.

Taylor and Lee's performances seemed to suffer too.


David Lee's dunk over Elton Brand. He would however not continue his strong first-half effort and found himself in foul trouble soon enough...



At the end of the third quarter the Clippers led by five, behind an excellent Corey Magette, when Kwame Brown subbed in and made an immediate impact, blocking a shot and scoring on the other side of the court, making it 72-75.




With 1:25 left, J-Will tied the score, 78-78

With 4 min. left in the fourth quarter, the Clippers went on an 10-0 scoring run, behind efforts of their big three, Cassell, Maggette and Brand (who had been on the bench for quite a while due to his foul trouble).



The Knicks seemed to fall apart on both ends of the floor, and couldn't reply. Kwame Brown managed to score a few inside baskets, but no one could provide the leadership and clutch scoring ability this team seems to lack.

Jason Williams scored a three with 1:00 left to make in 106-99 and then hit another from behind the arc with less then a minute to go to make it 107-102 but this couldn't cover up his poor game, especially lacking in the assist and FG % area.
The final score was 111-102. After the game, Sam Cassell was elected player of the game by the ESPN analysts.

Now I know some of you'll want more stats, so now I'll save the stats (I think that's possible, no ?) after every game and post the box score.
Taking screens of the stats just is too much work as you have to take 4 screens to show all the stats of all the players (right after the game, that is).
I'll also give you the stats for the team after a few games.
Kwame is doing reasonably well, with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks a game, as is Jamison (well, he was, before getting injured).
I'm also loving David Lee, Jason Williams and James Posey have to step up their game though, or they might find themselves benched. (Though Posey has some credit left because he's a great defender, especially against bigger '2' guards and I still look at Williams to lead my offense).

Furthermore I hope that Mo Taylor can keep providing me with that spark of the bench he did last night, and that Marcus Williams will keep on improving steadily.

Don't hold back your thoughts, comments etc...

...but as I said, I don't want to exaggerate with the trades, want to keep it a little realistic.

funny when i read comments like that; now, if someone last season started a Boston dynasty - the second worst team in the league - said they traded for KG and Ray Allen, everyone would've cried "unrealistic" and "stacked." NOBODY saw that coming. reality? big trades happen, especially nowadays where players have less and less team loyalty and are prone to chase the Ring by going to a contender ie., Gasol, Kidd, Shaq etc.

And yes, I definitely agree with you. Even the trades I made are very likely (although the quantity of trades is a litte over the top), look at the Lakers-Memphis trade, teams simply wanting to ditch contracts that don't seem worth their value anymore.
And of course, as you pointed out, team loyalty is not what it used to be.
Look at all the big names in past era's. How much of them changed teams (perhaps in the fall of their career to get a ring), but in their prime ?
Drexler, Jordan, Magic, Bird, Malone, Ewing, David Robinson, Stockton, Erving, Dumars, Thomas, Laimbeer, well... I can continue forever.
Of course there will always be a few exceptions, but the majority remained true to their team, and those were also teams that were built around these certain players, another thing that is not done like it was 'back in the days' because nowadays you simply can't rely on a player's loyalty, as much as you could back then...
Well, at least that's MY view.

Uhmm.. Just a suggestion bro.. Maybe you could resize your pictures so that it isn’t too large. Coz that maybe the reason why some guys don’t look into this coz of the slow loading of the pics.

Try resizing them in a Photoshop or EA Graphics Editor.
Then post them on Photobucket.

agree, but to be fair to today's players, i'm sure there are some that would like to bring a team from sub .500 to World Champ (LeBron comes to mind). part of the prob is also the change of mentality of the coaches and front office and loyalty to players by simply treating them as assets or liabilities; makes sense that player's would and should remain detached if they're expendable as soon as their #'s started declining. LAL and Shaq comes to mind.
