Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

Now THIS is cool.

Postby EGarrett on Sun Oct 19, 2003 6:27 am

I had to make a new post about this one. I just found out the payoff for being able to get fired and not being able to control multiple teams or switch control.

My Jazz team won the championship a few season ago and have been in the finals the last two years. Anyway...before the 2015 offseason a screen popped up...I thought I might've been fired again but then I read it...

"The Minnesota Timberwolves offer you control of their franchise. They are also offering 2000 NBA Store points and 10,000 dynasty points to join them.

Accept
(X) Decline"

Now THIS is cool.

Of course I had my Jazz team set-up with 3 first-round picks this year to prepare them to regain the title so it's a tough choice.

Also...has anyone else noticed that the Operation Sports board won't open? Read "EG has Live 2004" for my other update with more stuff I found.

That really does sound great.

Still, you pick a certain team because it's your team, so I don't know if I'd ever really want to change. Regardless, it's always nice to have the option (after all, isn't that what gaming is all about?).

You touched on this a little bit in the other post, where you said one center that you drafted in the second round now starts for you, but can you elaborate--can you tell us what player development relies on, if anything at all?

That would be great if you could take a couple of your star players with you.

Personally, I pick teams just because I like the challenge of rebuilding them. The Nets don't really need my help. But to each his own...

I think it's pretty much the same. But it's a lot more dynamic this year...guys go up and down a lot. You can also train and stuff to up their ratings but I have no idea how that interacts with their development.

Players drafted late develop a lot more often though. I made a mistake with who I drafted when though. My starting center I drafted 20th overall (and he got up to 77...which is about 88 OVR in 2002 terms) and my sixth man who is a 75 OVR I got with the 33rd overall pick in the second round.

I had to restart though because my memory card didn't have any free space on it.

That sounds great.

I'm in dynasty right now with the Grizzlies but I wanna play this whole season then simulate the others, I can't wait to see what team gives me a offer.

What did you have to give up in order to get 3 first round picks?

That is indeed cool, but I'd still prefer to be able to switch teams, elect not to get fired (or at least be able to view records and stats before being booted to the main menu). But as I said before, I'll reserve judgement until I've played the game myself.

I don't remember, I had to quit that franchise. I can tell you that I started my new franchise by blowing up the Hawks. The Pacers had a lot of cap room and gotten a pick from the Clippers. I traded them Ratliff and Shareef for Jeff Foster and their two picks...one of which was mid-lottery and the other was around 16 or so...

I reakon that if they are gonna fire or offer teams to GM's ...they should done something like have a screen/option where it lists all the teams and which one need a GM...and wheter they want you as GM and also list ur stats as a GM (eg. win/loss and notable achievements...etc.)

So if u get fired u could sign on with a different team or simulate a few seasons until you do sign with another team...

think about it...
if you would get fired, and then have to sim. several seasons in order to get a job. then how would you keep in touch with the league? all trades, free agents, rokies... in real life, a coach actually has to know the nba...
and if you sucked with your previus team. then who would wan't to hire you? you'd just end up simulating season after season untill you'd get pissed enought to realise that you'll never get hired... and then come to this board to bitch about how sucky the game is...

an you move your coach for another, like trade jeff van gundy to chicago for bill cartwright?

it could be fun to have a challenge at the begining of the dynasty like put chicago on the playoffs, win the division title, the conference title,....

I'm playing a dynastic move with the Houston Rocket. I have played all my games (21-1) . I Haven't made any trade yet. I'm playing on starter and the only team to whopped me was the Dallas mavericks when I was 6-0. Right now i'm on a 14 games winning streak.

Is Dynasty mode the same thing as 2003's Franchise mode?

You can. But they cost 10000 dynasty points. They increase your teams fg% by 4 for every away game. I dont have enough dynasty points.

I heard only the airplanes and lockers help the players performance. not even da shooting coach helps da ratings.
