? about scores

Mon Feb 25, 2008 5:18 pm

i'm woring on my game a little bit in terms of real scores, getting something realist when i let the game play itself. i dont mean simming i mean letting the game play out on screen, but i wondering in the real nba what lends t be the average score ofa a game. just the general average across the league, so i can see if i'm getting reasonable scores. its more my own setup of the game.

as i said i was looking fora break down, i asking about general averages across the entire leauge. someone want say what is relevity reasonable average poits might be. at least bit of a range would it might be.

i dont think you could have an exact average, the nba is unpredictable in the way that one game a team could score 100+ points, then the next game be held to only 70 points...
what sort of results are you getting?

Tue Feb 26, 2008 3:42 pm

i didt did exact, just agerneally average rach of what most typcial games might be so i get i can get close to something normal for a score in my games. i know there games that are extream, from time to time, but justa bark area would be fine.

I'd say between 85-105 would generally be realistic, depending on the opponents and the style of play. Games against teams like the Suns and Warriors tend to raise the averages as they get up around the 120 point mark while other games are in the late 70s or early 80s. As the stats in the link Pdub posted, the lowest scoring team in the league is currently averaging a shade under 93 ppg so if your scores are mostly in the 90s you'd be achieving a fair amount of realism, with a couple of higher/lower scoring affairs here and there.

You're welcome. :) As I said though, if a team like the Suns or Warriors are involved you'll probably be seeing high scorers as they average up around the 110 ppg mark.

For NBA Live I set 100 ppg as the mark. 25 ppg per quarter.
90-110 is ok as well.

Sun Mar 02, 2008 8:47 am

Absolutely, if you're getting scores around that mark you're doing pretty well in terms of realism. If the scores are frequently up in the 130s - quite easy if the game just becomes a shootout - you're not doing quite as well.

Between 90-120 is pretty fair.
Except if you're me, I like doing run-and-gun with my dynasty :P
My team's PPG average is around 110-120, but the season just started so yeah.

My first few games back into my Live 06 Dynasty began that way as I was a little rusty but in the last few I've done a better job on defense. If you get drawn into a shootout you can usually forget about keeping the scores down, especially if you're playing 12 minute quarters.

Fri Mar 14, 2008 10:15 am

Yeah, sometimes I forget to set the time for quarter length.
That usually explains high scoring games.. in Live.

I prefer to play 12 minute quarters so that challenge is there before me in each Dynasty game.
