Euro 2008- Friendlies

Sun Feb 24, 2008 6:09 pm

I'm itching to start this one...it's a bit early, but meh.

So, over the next few months, I will be doing a story coverage on a soccer tournament that will be happening in Europe this June. As far as I'm aware of, there is no video game in stores for this event, so I will just use EA's 2006 WC game. Rosters are as updated as possible, I used the lineup from the offical tournament site.

As for the game itself, I will be using "World Class" diffuclty (hardest). I am not invincible at this level, but I find it very realisitic and keeps the edge in most games. 6 minutes per half, all normal rules apply (offsides, bookings, penalties, fouls), and in slow game speed.

All 31 games from the tournament will be posted, but in another thread. I will be starting with the friendlies for now. Games will be posted within 24 hours either way from the kickoff time, and the order is the exact same as the tournament, given that Wikipedia is reliable enough...I hope. I will also be posting brief team-by-team coverage containing my roster moves sometime along the line.

And for the part which is the most important, the date of the first update...
Tomorrow!
...I have everything finished out already, just a matter of posting it, so procastination (sp?) is out of question. It's just one friendly between Poland and Estonia.

Suggestions welcome, and telling me your favourite Europe team won't hurt.

PS: New dyanasty means sig change!

Good news for me is, next update doesn't come until the end of March.

Maybe you should use past tense if you're going to do news-like recaps.

What detail settings are you using? The graphics look, well, funny as hell for a game made in 2006. Anyway you can increase these without messing up a video card or causing choppiness?

The 'Nucks lose to the Rockies in a shootout . Todd Helton thumps a slapshot past Roberto Luongo for the win!

Good luck on this, I'm kinda caught up with schoolwork to play MVP right now, but I should have the spring games done before MVP 08 comes out.

Yaeh, thanks for the idea. I wasn't actually going to do news-like recaps until the last minute, so I didn't really tke past tense into consideration.

Hehe, I had to shrink each screen by 50 % to fit it on the newspaper. That's why it looks funny. Although the detail level is on low (crappy computer), it's a lot sharper full-size. I'll try turning to to medium or something the next time after that. I tried it with a new laptop, the graphics look okay (ignore the fact that everyone looks short and fat), but I can't play it on that thanks to a shared video card (f***ing slow).
