How many games does it take for YOU to burn out from playin

Tue Jan 29, 2008 6:15 am

I made this thread over at operation sports and thought i'd get the forum going.

Like do you ever just play too many games where you're not crisp anymore and you start playing one step behind as the frustration and agitation sets in?

For me 2 games is my limit then i start rushing shots and not caring because my eyes just get sore as hell. and i think the repetitiveness gets to me as well.

(i play 8 min Q btw)

I get frustrated and make silly plays at the 2nd or 3rd game on 10 mins.

Same here. After a while I just try to push it too much and throw stupid passes and then I usually say to hell with it and quit. I usually can't play more than two games in a row unless it's playoff games or I have friends over and I got a buzz on.

After two 7 minute quarter games i get bored.

as soon as the AI make 5 bs steals/blocks and runs down court to drain a 3 happens

but i still love the game, makes matches closer

i can play this forever when i have friends over

Switching up my strategy is what keeps me interested. I play 9 minute quarters. Playing the dunk contest is also a good change. The only thing that really makes me bored is the commentary and being able to sniff out the cpu ball handler trying to make a back door pass.

I really lost interest after seeing that amazing celebration after winning the finals. Also, not having enough money to cover my star player's first year, ending in me not being able to re-sign him. Oh, and winning the championship while the owner is threatening to fire me.

 at your owner and my technique every time I can't sign my star player is I first edit it's ratings to 50's then it asks for lower salary then I sign him to a more reasonable price then i put the attributes back.

I did this to Calderon after the first season, I know Calderon wouldn't ask for 12 Million Dollars after winning 6MOY. I gave him 5 Mill instead.

Yep, exact same 2 games of 8 minutes is my limit. I only play 1 90% of the time anyway...

Sometimes two games is pushing it. It takes a lot out of you, and unlike Madden, there's no in-game save feature.

You have no idea how fucken rattled I am right now. Last night after a solid day of just chillin with 2k8, getting kicked out of the playoffs doing all my scouting/resigning/drafting and making it through the offseason i was just so pumped for 2k.
Then late last night I decide to sim through next season just to see how well my huge ass 6'11'' 280lbs PF with a fro develops, and while I'm simming past the all star game I realize he's still only getting like 5 minutes a game even though he's only a couple points overall under my starting PF(rating wise). So i go to rotation, give him 10-15 minutes a game and exit and suddenly fucken realize it's autosaving. So I try exiting to XMB but to no luck.
It saved over, and after playing a a full 58 game season with 12 minutes Q's, not simming one game, I accidently sim through half of my second season and my teams record wen't from 29-29 to something like a total of 12 and 17 losses (half way through season). 10 of those wins coming in the past 3 weeks because my team somehow started playing good and got 10 wins in a row (wtf is with that?).

So to sum it up, I am hella rattled. And really can't bring myself to even play the game anymore after being so incredibly pumped for finishing my first season 2 days ago.

Yeah that happened to me in my knicks season, i simmed to the trade deadline which was only 5 games away where i was playing 12 minute quarters and made a trade that i was just interested in making but just fooling around then simmed to the draft then into the second season then bang! autosaved its self.

my own fault, autosave remains turned off from now on.
