can't load

for some reason when i try to load the 97/98 rosters on my live 08 i get a whole buch of error messages and then the game shuts down. can someone help me

If you're getting codebase errors the problem is most likely with the database files included with the patch. What error messages are you getting?

yes i get codebase errors they look like this

this happens when i try to load all of the 90's rosters

The problem is most likely the update itself, however you can try deleting all the files in the workingdb folder or simply replacing them with the default files from originaldb or your NBA Live 08 disc.
