Bulls - Remember the Teiten

Postby fjccommish on Wed Jan 09, 2008 6:49 pm

NBA Live 06. Superstar, 9 minute quarters. 29 game season. I control the created center, player locked, and let the CPU decide when to pass me the ball, shoot, etc. When my player sits to rest or because of fouls, I let the CPU control the Bulls. The goal is, as much as possible, to play this as a single player on a team.

Chicago Bulls signed 8' center Theodore Teiten. With the addition of this center the question is are the Bulls now the favorite in the NBA Central?

The Bulls released Ben Wallace, who was picked up by the Boston Celtics. The addition of Wallace makes the Celtics an even bigger favorite in the East.

Can anyone defend the 8' Teiten? The Bulls offensive strategy will be "remember the Teiten," keep the offense going through the post. Can the Heat's Shaq, out of his prime, stop Teiten? We'll find out in January when the Bulls face the Heat at the United Center. How about Yao Ming? He has the height but maybe not the weight or strength. Could his outside game force Teiten to tire himself on defense, or could Ming's quick moves get Teiten in foul trouble? The Bulls face the Rockets in Houston in February.

Most likely to match up well with Teiten is the Laker's new rookie Dojo Imawu, the 7'8" center from the Sudan. Fans had a glimpse in the pre season when the Bulls faced the Lakers. Teiten and Imawu played to a draw, not allowing anyone to score in the paint except each other for the whole first half. Teiten finished the game with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Imawu scored 16 and grabbed 6 rebounds despite sitting out much of the game with foul trouble. Kobe, also playing light minutes because of fouls, scored 18. But it was Odom who led the Lakers in the second half with 14 points. Ben Gordon scored the winning basket, a 3 off a Teiten screen, with two seconds remaining on the clock. Bryant missed a 20 footer at the buzzer as the Bulls won 97-96. The two teams meet on December 12 for their only regular season game.

Whatever happens, the largest player in NBA history is bound to make an impact.

Game 1 - Bulls @ Knicks

W 120 - 94

Teiten's debut lived up to its billing as the biggest man in NBA history led the Bulls with 39 points and 10 rebounds on the way to an easy 120-94 victory. He didn't record any blocks, but all three Bulls blocks came when Teiten forced offensive players to redirect their shots right into the waiting arms of another Bull.

The blowout was courtesy of the bench which outscored the Knicks bench 47-9. The Bulls led by 15 at the half, but the Knicks closed to within 7 until the bench came in with 4 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. By the time the 3rd quarter buzzer sounded the Bulls led by 20 and the Knicks were done for the night.

Eddie Curry led the Knicks with 24 points, scored mostly when Teiten rotated onto Randolph in the second half. Randolph scored 12 1st half points, but only managed 4 in the second half.

The Bulls next face 4-0 Cleveland, led by LeBron James and his 38 PPG, 9 RPG and 8 APG. Teiten squares off with Zydrunas Ilgauskis who is averaging 18.8 PPG, 13 RPG and 2 BPG going into the game.

Game 2 - Bulls v Cavs

L 103 - 111 (1-1)

Video Recap: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=CCxFmCqLW0I

Theodore Teiten dominated Zydrunas Ilgauskus, he dominated LeBron James in the first half, but the Bulls couldn't overcome a 22 point second half from James and a strong effort off the bench from Pavlovic as the Cavs grabbed dominance in the Central with a 111-103 victory.

The Bulls D stifled LeBron in the first half. Blocked twice, by Teiten, on short jumpers and guarded closely by Deng, King James only managed 4 first half points. But the Cavs bench kept them in the game and allowed Cleveland to hold a 3 point lead at the half.

That lead would balloon to as many as 18 in the second half as James got hot, especially during a 3rd quarter stretch in which Teiten sat for a short rest. Teiten led the Bulls back to within 6 by mid 4th quarter, but that was as close as they could get.

Teiten led the Bulls with 43 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks and 6 steals. While the steals are a bonus, but the Bulls head coach and Teiten himself have expressed concern over the lack of rebounding.

"An 8' guy with his strength and presence should be dominating the boards a lot more than he does. Ilgauskis and even some other guys beat him to some rebounds down the stretch which I thought he should have had."

The Cavs bench outscored the Bulls bench 37-27.

averaging 41 points a game...nice 8-)

Question... are you going to be doign behind the scenes stuff...that would make this one player franchise a lot more interesting!

EDIT: Also...What an awesome recap, I loved it!

The only behind the scenes stuff may come from in game performance, such as the mention of the lack of rebounds for an 8' guy.

Game 3: Bulls (1-1) v Pacers (2-0)

Bulls lose: 99-100

Video Recap: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8DQR-ivJ4GA

Theodore Teiten started out fast off criticism from his coach that he had let too many key rebounds out of his clutches in the loss to Cleveland. But his aggressive play got him in early foul trouble, and he missed most of the first half.

Heinrich, Gordon and Deng stepped up to carry the load for the Bulls in the first half, which ended with the Bulls leading by 3. But Jermaine O'Neal, frustrated early by Teiten, got on a roll that carried over into the second half as the Pacers built a 10 point lead by the time Teiten returned mid-3rd quarter.

The 8' rookie led a Bulls' comeback that fell just short when Teiten's go-ahead 12 foot jump shot missed.

"He still let a few rebounds get away that I thought he should have had, but if not for the foul trouble he'd have had a lot more than 10. We played a good game against a hot team and we fell just short. We'll work on that extra effort to turn games like this into wins," said the Bulls head coach "Da Coach!"

The Pacers' bench outpaced the Bulls' bench 27-20.

Next up the Bulls look for their first home win when they face the 3-0 Hawks. Joe Johnson leads the Hawks and is second in scoring league-wide (behind Teiten's 38.3 PPG) with 31.3 PPG. Hawks' rookie Al Horford comes in strong with 15.3 PPG and 9.7 RPG, but at 6'10" and 245 LBS he gives up a lot of size to Theodore Teiten who has vowed to "dominate the paint like you've never seen!"

Will he live up to that promise?

Teiten's 40 and 10 averages and 8' stature are extremely absurd. That being said, I'll check this every once in a while. Good to see someone trying something new.

Chamberlain once averaged 50 PPG for a season, he also averaged 20 RPG for a season.

Why are 10 RPG absurd?

Game 4: Bulls (1-2) v Hawks (3-0)

Bulls lose: 98 - 89

Video recap and stats: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hSYRZ86yuJE

Teiten promised to "dominate the paint like you've never seen" but after a slow start Da Coach pulled him. The rest of the Bulls stepped up to keep the Bulls close as the ended the first half trailing by only 1.

But Joe Johnson stepped up for the Hawks in the second half, sparking them to a lead as large as 12 and a 9 point win.

Teiten ended the game with 38 points and 9 rebounds. Joe Johnson led the Hawks with 24 points. The Hawks' bench outscored the Bulls' bench 18-8.

The Bulls' are now 0-3 at home and 1-3 on the season. When asked about some bad luck plays during the game, Da Coach had this to say. "Bad luck? Bad luck!!!?? Lack of hustle looks like bad luck, that's our bad luck, we're not moving to the ball. We have an 8' center, the guy's a monster, he said he'd dominate the paint. 9 rebounds doesn't dominate anything! Don't even asked why I pulled him in the first quarter, I can't pull the whole team when they all don't hustle, so I look over and see the biggest guy, he gets pulled!"

See the video recap at: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hSYRZ86yuJE for the stats.

The Bulls try again for their first home win when they face the Nets, led by Vince Carter's 21.3 PPG and Jason Kidd's 15 PPG, 6 RPG and 6.3 APG. Teiten matches up with 6'11" Jamaal Magloire who comes into the game with 8.7 PPG, 9 RPG and 3 Blocks per game.

I actually find this dynasty really interesting. The video recaps are pretty good, except make sure what your saying either doesn't go past what the highlight is showing or is too short so there are blank spots, also add some pitures to your presentation. Good luck! Keep up the good work (Y) :applaud: Nice to see somone doing something unique, I'll definitely be following!

Game 5 Bulls (1-3) v Nets (3-1)

Video Recap: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-TSkw0k0U5I

Bulls 108 - Nets 83

The Bulls finally recorded their first home win as Teddy Teiten scored 40 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead them. The Bulls locked down the Nets inside, led by Teiten's 5 blocks, as they held the Nets to only 38 second half points to build an 8 point lead to 25.

Tyrus Thomas scored 14 with 10 rebounds, and Andres Nocioni sparked the bench with 14 points. Da Coach made a switch in the starting lineup, adding Duhon for better defense with Gordon on the bench to provide some offense. Gordon didn't score much, but he dished out five assists. The Bulls' bench outscored the Nets' bench 34-19.

Vince Carter led the Nets with 23 points while Jason Kidd was held to only 3 assists thanks to the Bulls stifling defense.

"Every time I passed the ball," said Kidd, "the Bulls swarmed and forced us back outside. Then they challenged our shooters. It was ugly."

Despite only 8 rebounds from Teiten, Bulls coach Da Coach was much happier with his star center's effort. "Only 8? It seemed like a lot more. It's not how many, it's when you get them" he said. "5 blocks seemed like a lot more too because he forced so many guys to change their shots. Did you ever see so many balls hit the bottom of the rim? That was terrific."

Loul Deng started but sat most of the game with a strained right shoulder. He's expected to continue practicing and to be at 100% by the time the Bulls face the Warriors.

The Bulls move to 2-3 on the season and 1-3 at home while the Nets fall to 3-2.

For stats and highlights see the video recap at: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-TSkw0k0U5I

Next up for the Bulls is the final home game of this home stand, against the 0-3 Golden State Warriors led by Baron Davis with 13.3 PPG and 6 APG. Teiten squares off with 6'11" Andris Biedrins who averages 11.7 PPG, 9.3 RPG and 2 blocks per game. It might be a field day.

The Bulls take to the road for a game against Boston on December 10 before returning home on Dec 12 for the big match up with the Lakers featuring Kobe Bryant and 7'8" rookie Dojo Imawu. After the Lakers it's back on the road to face currently 10-0 Phoenix and the tough Detroit Pistons.

The Bulls find themselves last in the Central Division, and the only team in the Central below .500. Cleveland leads at 7-4 with Detroit at 3-2, Indiana at 4-3, Milwaukee at 3-3, then the Bulls at 2-3.

Early MVP hopefulls are led by Lebron James.

1. James (Cavs) - 28.9 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 7.1 APG and 2 steals per game.
2. Dojo Imawu (Lakers) - 24.2 PPG, 12.7 RPG, 6.9 APG, 2.4 BPG, 2 SPG
3. Kobe Bryant (Lakers) - 24.5 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 6.2 APG
4. Kevin Durant (Seattle) - 18.7 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 5.6 APG, 1.55 SPG
5. Shaq O'Neal (Heat) - 20.9 PPG, 10.7 RPG, 2.22 BPG

The Dynasty crashed, and the strange thing is all the saved versions (one after each game) crash as well.

I tried starting a new Dynasty but in testing found it crashes after the first season, as soon as the trade phase starts (after signing free agents.)

Since the dynasty keeps crashing, it's ending.

If you like my recaps drop a line to EA and ask them to bring me back to the Madden Challenge and NBA Live Challenge as the emcee.

I worked with them the first two years, but left under bad circumstances when I wasn't paid (by a sub-contractor) for work. But I loved being involved in the Madden Challenge and would love to do it again.

Also I found that the problem was the NBA Live 06 Beta patch listed here on the '06 home page. Without the patch the Dynasty runs through the off season trading without crashing.
