Sam Mitchell's expectations for 07/08 season

Image

After Raptors first training of the season, Sam Mitchell told the press about his expectations for this season. He talked about the current roster, possible trades and explained his team-play ideas.
"I expect nothing less than to equal past season results. Our objective are the playoffs, and then we'll see if we are able to obtein bigger things. I think the team has won with Kapono and Delfino's trades. Jason is a reliable 3 point shooter and Carlos is a young and talented guard who can also play as small forward."
Referring to possible trades, Mitchell showed interest in bringing a big man to the team. "We need another PF or C. I want to bring Nenad Krstic to the team, since he is not going to have much minutes at New Jersey. He would be a great addon to our roster and could help Bosh and Bargnani at the paint. Either Joey Graham or Jamario Moon are going to leave Toronto. We dont need 2 backup SF's."
After this, Sam talked about his teamplay ideas. "We want to keep our FIBA styled basketball. I think that great defense and team-work is the key to achieve important things. We have 2 amazing PG's as Jose Calderon and TJ Ford. I'll decide who to use depending on the game, since they have 2 different styles. Jose is the prototype of a FIBA point guard; He is really smart, incredible passing and a natural leader. TJ is more an NBA guard, he's a fast and rebellious player. We want this one to be Chris Bosh's season. After 3 years, we feel this is the time for him to be an NBA superstar. "

Nenad Krstic arrives at Toronto

Image

Finally Raptors got Nenad Krstic. In change, they sent Jamario Moon and Derrick Martin to New Jersey, According to Sam Mitchell, "Nenad is a great player, he's both defensive and ofensive skills. Now we have a very good player rotation under the basket. Bosh, Bargnani and Krstic will be difficult to stop for every team. We lost a complete player as Moon, but i think we have his position covered with Delfino and Kapono. Derrick Martin was not going to have chances, so we will not suffer his loss. Now we are searching for a backup shooting guard, someone who could give rest to Anthony Parker"

I like the trade. I've always been a fan of Krstic, and I think Moon is overrated big time personally. Getting rid of Martin is good also.

Nice trade. Even though you're losing a lot on Jamario Moon!
He has the potential to be R.O.Y. (Not saying Durant won't win it)
But hey, I can see Krstic bringing it to the T-Dot

Lamrock93, Nice to see you like the trade. Moon is a complete player, but he was not included in the rotation, since Kapono and Delfino are better than him.

Skillmatic, I think Moon is a good player, but not enough to win ROY.

Good start for Raptors

What a way to start the season for Toronto. The team played as Sam Mitchell wants, and they won easily against Sixers. Chris Bosh was named MVP, due to his 31 points and 12 rebounds. Nenad Krstic recorded a double-double in his debut, with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while Anthony Parker scored 10 points. In Philadelphia, it seemed that only Iguodala played, since any of his teamates scored more than 10 points. Iggy finished the night with 27 points, shooting 10/24 FG.
Sam Mitchell talked about the game at the press conference. "The team played an excellent game today. Our defense was great, and we have a monster like Chris (Bosh) in the offensive. I'm really happy with Krstic's debut. Not everyone record a double-double in his first match. I would like to give more minutes to Bargnani, but tonight it was impossible because of Nenad's and Chris performances. I think that if we could bring a backup shooting guard, then the roster would be just as we need it. We are still deciding possible candidates, but i would like to bring Francisco García."

Nice win, but lol I thought we already talked about putting line breaks in your recaps. It looks nicer. Anyways keep up the good work and nice job going 1-0 over the 76ers

Chaser7, I underestood that the breaking lines were to separate different games. As the week had only 1 game, i wrote it in 1 paragraph.

You should always do it especially since this was a lengthier recap for you. It still looks better if its not just one big chunk. Either way its fine, I'm just giving you a suggestion to make it slightly better.. Keep up the good work (Y)
