Talk about NBA 2K9 here, as well as all previous games in the NBA 2K series.

Not sure if this was asked but can you continue with an association after getting the patch?
Yes you can.
The Post Game Wrap Up/Game Track problem has been addressed at OS. Basically the game records 255 actions, if you play a fast paced game and go over 255 it'll start from 1 and clear all previous replays. That's why you'll have rebounds and freethrows as top plays and few actions in Game Track.

Would be very cool if someone could explain the icons below the players .....
The lock seems to stand for good defender I think ...
And the Star looks like Star player ..
But what is this yellow bar ?

I don't know if this has been asked yet, but here goes:
I bought a 360 and NBA 2K8.
I was wondering how could you transfer downloaded save files (with CAP's and everything) to the console?
And btw, is this legal?

The bar is how hot that player is from what range. It will turn black, yellow and red depending on how hot they are. I think it is the range also. If it is all filled up and red that means he is hot from 3 point range.
I could be wrong about the range thing.

The icon that shows up below the player is for the lock down defense. Get close enough to a player and the icon will show up. Hold down the left trigger and the cpu will help you defend against the ballhandler. You can still use the left analog to control the player while doing this, though.
The yellow bars are the hotzones.

Can someone help me out with the shot stick? Does it matter how long I hold it or how strait I push it up? I am talking about jump shots.
Sat Dec 29, 2007 8:43 pm
Release at the top of your jump, and I don't think it matter which direction you push it. Use practice mode to learn the release point because it will tell you how good your release is.

I seem to hit about 80% in practice but like 20% in games. I guess with the different shooting style every players has it is just hard to judge the peak of your jump.

Just recieved 2K8 with the mail yesterday. Has been playing the demo, and decided to buy it. Havent played so much yet, but it is really much, much better than Live 08

It does all come down to practice, when i started my knicks season Crawford was the worst to shoot with for me but now ive got him shooting nearly 50% on the season and most of the shots i take with him are jumpshots.
Mike Miller is another player i have trouble with.
I started a second season with Memphis just for fun, was thinking about trading Miller then i scored 36 points with him in an away win over the jazz, 5-6 from downtown.

I love T-Macs shot, feels so real and so good to shoot with him. But I dont like all of those big men quick releases like Yao and Bogut and also Marion, is kinda tough for me.
I can shoot the lights out with Dirk ^^, dunno why but his release is easy and he can shoot over anybody in this league.

When i was playing live 08 i wasnt really that bothered when they took away the jumpshot manual release but after using it again in 2k id rather keep it than let the cpu shoot the ball for me.

Hey guys,
don't know if it was mentioned here already, but still I need some help with this game.
1. Is there a way to make CPU to substitute players more often. There're no substitutions frequency or fatigue effect sliders or smth like that.
2. How to dunk. I know that I should you the shot button or shot stick, but my players take stupid decisions. Howard often keeps shooting lay-ups near to the basket instead of dunking and so on. So is there any way to dunk ?
Thanks.
i'm using ps2, by the way.
Mon Dec 31, 2007 10:57 am
For dunking you need to make sure you are holding turbo also.
Mon Dec 31, 2007 11:19 am
How about putback dunks, I am only able to tip it in ..
Mon Dec 31, 2007 3:36 pm
Personally I don't don't know either one of those buttons. I have tipped it in but don't really know how I did it.

Do any of you guys have trouble with the refs calling way too many goaltendings, on rebounds too?

Well I dont see it as a problem, they call it when the ball would have gone in .. so just dont rebound to early ..

Has anyone else has a problem with 8 seconds? Last night when I was playing the lakers I had them backcourt until 15 on the shot clock. 15 seconds was on the clock when Bryant started to throw it. So it was about 9-10 seconds but nothing was called. All the rules were on also.
Tue Jan 01, 2008 10:43 am
I haven't had any problems with 8 seconds, but I believe the developers allowed for some room for things like that, because I could be camped in the lane for 4 or 5 seconds before getting a 3 in the key call.
Anyone have tips on layups? My players seem to perform different animations randomly, with most of them being really soft layups that get blocked really easily. IT seems the only way I can get an effective layup off is by making sure I am more then 10-15 feet from the basket before triggering it. Anything inside tha area becomes a slow, weak layup.
Any tips on getting shooters open? I use the inside out game but the cpu never double teams my post players. The only way I can get open shots is by pulling up on a fast break or using a screen.
