I will bet you 20$ on the over for 33 wins if you want.

Shit, if you are serious about that, I'll bet $100 on more then 33 wins.

A little off-topic, but I've picked up Granger and Tinsley for my fantasy teams. Granger is playing like a stud, especially considering that I got him with one of my lower-tier picks. Tinsley has been a little iffy though; he has a very shaky field goal percentage and his turnovers have went up by one each game.

Jamaal hurt his thumb/wrist against Washington early in the first quarter. He probably should have sat out against Memphis but he played and did alright.

There are certain guys Jamaal tears apart every single time he plays them though. The main victims are Sam Cassell and Mike Bibby. On the other hand, fast point guards who can get to the rim give him trouble defensively and it effects him negatively on the offensive end too because he takes things too personally. If we have a week where we play TJ Ford and Tony Parker in the same week, sit Jamaal.

So Tinsley is good at beating up on aging point guards who never saw defense as more than an afterthought and were never considered stud athletes, but has problems against guards closer his peers in age and athleticism?

Yes.

Indy, did you see the game against the Clippers tonight? And if so, what were your impressions? I'm not trying to rub your face in the loss (and they are still 3-1, better than my Raps), I'm just really curious about how they played in their first loss. It's an interesting team that I'd like to keep my eye on all year, simply because they're looking more and more unpredictable.

On a side note, the Clippers are undefeated!? WTF?

Thu Nov 08, 2007 3:07 pm

Ah, the battle of two bad teams that by odd circumstances are undefeated. Its only one game, but the first time they face a team that has actually won a game this season, they lose.

The Clippers haven't lost a game. So formwise, they are amongst the best in the league ... arent they like 4-0 or 5-0 and top of the West right now?

Fri Nov 09, 2007 10:36 am

"that by bad circumstances are undefeated".

Even with Brand and Livington, the Clips are mediocre, but without them, they are terrible. I don't understand why they don't just tank the season and draft one of the big 3.

They are essentially this year's Grizzlies.

Fri Nov 09, 2007 11:00 am

Why would you tank the season from the start of the season? Why do you tank at all?

The Clippers are showing heart by trying to win and keep on winning. It means a lot more to win games without your star player than to lose on purpose because he isn't there. I would lose a lot of respect for teams if they did what you said they should do.

And perhaps the Clippers seem 'mediocre' to you but actions speak louder than words and they are playing well. Maybe they will stick it up sooner or later but there's no denying that they were in-form and playing good basketball thus not being a bad team. For the time being at least.

We played OK in the first half of the LA game, but in the second half we could not get out of our shooting funk. Ike Diogu is hurt 4-6 weeks, and Troy Murphy was not at game speed in the second half so that hurt us.

Sat Nov 10, 2007 2:26 pm

Horrible, pathetic 4th quarter against the Bobcats, but it really taught me something about this team.

Over the first 3 games we had the same outside shooting woes for spurts that we've had in these last 2, but Ike and Quis were the 2 guys who were able to score high percentage buckets to get the train moving again. With Ike out 4-6 weeks we are in for a serious test. David Harrison sucks really, really bad and I have honestly given up on him. He cannot fill Ike's shoes while he is out. Quis needs to come back soon.

In order for this team to be as good as they can, we have to stay healthy.

He shot under 33% from the floor? 90% of his shots were jumpers, and he made no non-jumpers?

Yeah, he hasn't played well in the flow of the offense yet but all the buckets he's hit have been big ones when we are struggling to shoot well from the outside. Also I'd like to see a shot chart for him, I know he's hit one three, and one pretty long 2, but most of his shots are 10-18 foot floating/jumpers. He's not an outside shooter at all.

Sat Nov 10, 2007 3:22 pm

David Harrison is horrible. He's one of those guys who's only in the league cause he's big.

And Indy, I've been saying all along that health is the main reason (or one of the main reasons) why Indiana will struggle this year. So many injury prone players. Sucks that Diogu's out, though. I really like his game. Kind of reminds me Al Jefferson in his first couple of seasons.

Pacers blow 25 point lead to lose to Nuggets. Nice.

Sun Nov 11, 2007 5:06 pm

This team has got to get some consistency on the offensive end. It is as simple as that.

Not gonna happen, though. Even the franchise big man Jermaine O'Neal is a career .460% shooter from the floor. To my mind, that's unacceptable for a PF/C of O'Neal's skill level. If he would stop settling for 18 foot jumpers all the time, he could easily get that % above .500. That's the biggest reason why I think O'Neal is overrated. He's a great defensive player, but with his mindset on offense, he's a #2 option, simple as that. The Pacers were able to mask that for many years due to the talent that surrounded him (Reggie, Ron Ron, Steve Jax), but with the team they have now, they need Jermaine down on the block getting high percentage buckets, not jacking up J's from 15-18 feet. He's no Chris Bosh from that range.

The weirdest thing about it is that every time I see O'Neal battle in the paint, he looks like he has really good foot work and post moves, but he just doesn't utilize it enough. Maybe he's afraid of getting injured, I don't know. But I do know that if Jermaine isn't getting good looks in the paint, the Pacers will continue to be a very inconsistent offensive team. You can't rely on Bumleavy, Murphy, and Granger (though he's looking better every year) to get you easy scores when the jump shots aren't falling. That should be Jermaine's job, plain and simple.

Sun Nov 25, 2007 2:16 pm

Stunning stat to start the year. 6-0 when Jermaine plays 26 minutes or less. 0-7 when he plays 26+. 3-0 without him in the lineup with wins over New Orleans and Dallas.

This team is so exciting and fun to watch without Jermaine its not even funny. When Jermaine plays it is just frustrating. I honestly would trade him for Drew Gooden right now. This team is clicking on all cylinders and all he will do by coming back is ruin the chemistry.

Sun Nov 25, 2007 2:30 pm

Guess that means its time to trade JO to the lakers, cavs, nets, heat, or whom ever wants him?

Sun Nov 25, 2007 2:47 pm

The Pacers should trade JO+1st round draft pick for Vlad Radmanovic of the Lakers.

Tue Nov 27, 2007 11:10 am

I'd be ok with a JO for Jamison/Nick Young type package. Before the season started, there is no way I would get behind a deal like that, but Danny is showing he can play poorly and still score 20 on 50% shooting. He is turning in to a solid franchise player, and I want to groom him that way.

Wed Nov 28, 2007 9:20 am

Danny is also learning a lot from Jermaine!!! I just hate all these fuckin' Injuries. If It ain't 1 thing it's another.

Is the 33-49 bet still on?
