SYDNEY (AFP) - Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.
Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.

wearing your pants with your underwear showing will get you a disorderly conduct citation here in Perth.
i heard that somewhere in the USA kids can't even hug eachother (as a greeting as many do) or they'll face detention.
It's good to live in the free world.

youve got to be fucking kidding me
Sat Nov 17, 2007 7:48 am
"HA HA HA, what would you kids like for Christmas!"
That just doesn't sound correct.

Matt, I had that hugging rule in middle school.
Sat Nov 17, 2007 10:51 am
You know there is a reason they had that rule just for you though...

Hugging rule... I guess they really wouldnt approve of the hug/kiss that most of my friends do.
Feels like Europe.

Can't people take things in context? A jolly Santa who laughs out, "ho ho ho!" is not the same as, "You stupid ho!"

Really? No way! Thanks for pointing that out.

Wait, what are we talking about now?
Thu Nov 22, 2007 9:55 pm
If we're going to ban any words or phrases that could be taken wildly out of context or could be considered offensive thanks to a double entendre then we might as well live in silence, devoid of the written word. I've never heard of anyone being offended by the traditional "Ho ho ho" Santa greeting; if indeed there are people who are offended by it then I would respectfully suggest they've got way too much time on their hands if they're looking to stamp out things of that nature.

I will give $10000 dollars to anyone who would actually find a women who is truthfully offended by Santa saying "Ho, ho, ho".
Oh, no, I just offended a whole buch of women!
Fri Nov 23, 2007 1:32 pm
How would you judge "truthfully"? Because it's not hard to find "feminazis". Especially on a college campus. (I could go for $10,000.)

Well, of course you can't tell them your going to win $10000 of some Canadian on the internet (I'm broke anyway). And asking them in a way that might get response bias (eg. "Are you offended by Santa saying "ho, ho, ho" because the word "ho" also means "whore"?).

Hehe, I find this thread amusing. Sometimes when I get to watch old re-run movies, I can't help but snicker when they refer to a black person as negro and a woman as a girl. And any of you trekkies out there watched the original series DVDs? Captain Kirk never gets even a slap on the wrist for making a pass at every female that crosses his path. Uhura not exempted. Where as this days an officer would have been warned with a red flag or worst yet, court marshalled.
Next to this, I find it amusing that in this thread just about every other kid on this forum has to correct some else's post for grammar and spelling.
