Omegah,
Don't bring him back to stardom but he could easily be a 20 PPG/10 APG/4 RPG in Houston's system assuming he did start and play around 35 minutes a game. Good luck :)

Pre-Season Game

Blazers @ Rockets

The newest Shooting Guard/Center tandem in the league is just about to face off with the best Shooting Guard/Center tandem.

Brandon Roy and Greg Oden will face off against Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming.

"We're just going to try things out here. It's no problem if we don't win, it's just pre-season. We're going to try out the new system and see who fits in well with who." says new Head Coach Rick Adelman.

Steve Francis will get the starting nod at Point Guard in his homecoming. Dikembe Mutombo, Rafer Alston and Chuck Hayes will be on the inactive list. Rafer has a bruised knee, Chuck Hayes has a sore back and Mutombo decided to sit out. All of the injuries are very minor so Rockets will not be missing too much.

Projected Starting Line Ups

PG - Steve Francis
SG - Tracy McGrady
SF - Shane Battier
PF - Luis Scola
C - Yao Ming

PG - Jarrett Jack
SG - Brandon Roy
SF - Martell Webster
PF - LaMarcus Aldridge
C - Greg Oden

Rockets fall short in pre-season

Image

Steve Francis' homecoming wasn't quite as one would want it. The Rockets fell in pre-season to the new Trail-Blazers with new face Greg Oden. Francis had 15 4th quarter points which took the Rockets who were at one point down by 27 to 10 points with just over 2 minutes to play.

Houston was badly outboarded with newcomer Greg Oden being a major factor in that.

"That's not something we have to worry about. We had Mutombo and Hayes sitting out this game. Those are our 2 best rebounders." says head coach Rick Adelman.

"The biggest problem of this game was fouls. We were fouling way too much, the next biggest problem was that we weren't hitting from outside. We have a lot of good shooters on the team but tonight wasn't any of their nights." says Rick Adelman

On the brighter side, a rare pre-season sell out crowd welcomed Steve Francis back home.

The Rockets wore their older jerseys, affectionately dubbed as 'pajamas' to this game in Francis' return.

"It's great to be back. The fans all accept me, it's just great." says Steve Francis.

The Rockets will open up their season against the Los Angeles Lakers where Tracy McGrady will go head to head with Kobe Bryant.

Well written and presented, but you would be surprised at how much BBcode improves the presentation of a dynasty. Use it.

Good luck.

Rockets escape with win after strong comeback from Lakers

After playing some really poor basketball in their 1st half with Yao Ming in foul trouble where the Lakers outscored the Rockets 53 to 40 and at one point led by 18 and killed the Rockets on the boards when Coach Adelman decided to go with Luis Scola and Chuck Hayes in the post against the likes of Kwame Brown, Ronny Turiaf and Andrew Bynum.

Another Yao Ming showed up halftime talk.

"That was really out of character of Yao. He's always been quiet." says Tracy McGrady.

"Yao was crazy in there. You should've heard what he said, he was like "Guys, I'm sick of this high post crap. Just get me the ball down low. Let's go half-court, Van Gundy style. I can just go post those suckers up. They can't stop me." " says teammate Rafer Alston after the match.

And that's what they did. Rockets started the 3rd quarter on a 16-2 run and would've kept the Lakers below double digits in the 3rd quarter if it hadn't been for an Andrew Bynum put back with 5.7 seconds to play.

New Head Coach Rick Adelman calling out plays.

When asked if he was bothered by this, Rick Adelman calmly responded "It's fine. They needed to get back in the game, and they needed something to get comfortable with. They're still adapting to the system."

The Lakers came back strong in the 4th to a point where they were down by 3 with just over 28 seconds left in the 4th. Tracy McGrady dribbled the shot clock out and passed it to Yao who turned around for a fade away that just rimmed out. Chuck Hayes got in good position for a tip that missed but when Kwame Brown secured the rebound it was already too late to do anything.
